As we saw with the Kiffin deal, the calendar is not kind in these scenarios. If you are changing coaches, you better have your new crew in place before the end of the year to start recruiting portal kids and to try and keep your own. If Beth had the master plan Fry is claiming, I would think there would be some noise on that already and an announcement very soon. Starting to doubt Fry's info.
KF said "shit" in his post game presser too. The freedom of getting older is that you stop giving a shit about what people think about you. Love it.
If feels pretty quiet, doesn't it? Seems like if there isn't any scent of smoke in the next 48 hours, there is likely no fire.

Not necessarily, if the coach they want is internal then no reason to put out anything. Just my opinion but if Kirk is leaving and the candidate is internal he won't want to announce until after the bowl game to avoid all the interviews and press. He won't want to do that to the team and create a distraction.
It could also be a case there is an agreement in understanding and it is agreed upon that the announcement comes later. Lots of different ways to do it if they know who they want if the job is in fact available.

Not to beat a dead horse, but if it is an internal hire, then Fry's information isn't accurate. Beth would not be recruiting anyone internally. She would offer the job. He would take it. Done. If that were the case, they would have announced it. Why wait? This would be a happy press conference with KF there to pass the torch. I don't think this is happening at all.
If she were chasing an external replacement and it was not certain whether the candidate would take the job or not, as Fry reported, then that would have leaked out by now. It hasn't.

I think this may not be accurate if the candidate she is looking at is not currently coaching at the moment. It would be much easier to keep things quiet if you are only talking to a coach or a coach and an agent. I have no ties to the program or know all the ins and outs of relationships but the only person I could even think of that could match this would be Stoops. With how close Stoops and Kirk are keeping things quiet would be a lot easier if Kirk has expressed he wanted to keep it quiet. I would think Stoops and his agent would respect that relationship.

Which Stoops? Mark just got fired and Bob is as old as KF. I would be shocked if this was the direction she wanted to head. Fitzgerald made some sense, but sounds like he is taken.
As for keeping it quiet. If what Fry is saying is accurate, well, Fry knows. We all know. So, its not exactly quiet. If its true.

I said I thought it was highly likely that he moves on. Which also doesn't make what I said about them pursuing a new coach untrue. Which isn't untrue.

Well, you have set yourself up to be right now matter what happens. If KF leaves, you crow that you knew it before everyone else. If he stays, you claim that Beth was looking at a candidate, did not land said candidate, and so stuck with KF. This cannot be proven untrue.
Not a criticism. I appreciate you sharing whatever information you hear. That is why we all come here. But, unless and until some other sources come out supporting what you heard, I have a hard time believing you have good information.

The Stoops I was thinking was Bob for that scenario I described. Realistically I don't think it will happen and Stoops is too old to move the needle for me.
I could see it as a possibility in that Phil and some of the other guys would stay as he would be someone respected and it wouldn't gut the program and would allow Woods to work under someone else.
My top choice is Woods but I do not know him and do not know if that is what he aspires to be. The HC position has changed drastically in the last few years and I am sure some coordinators don't find it as an attractive options as it once was.
Slow day at the office so trying to think out of the box a little to entertain myself

I get it but nothing I've said has changed. I said I was pretty confident of it and I've owned everything I've said on this board, and I sure as hell won't go back and delete my posts saying so. But I also said many times it's a thing that may not happen.

You should not change a thing. You heard information, passed it along, and made a prediction. Nothing wrong with that. I have no doubt you heard what you heard and that it was a real source.
But, we all know how a game of telephone works. What starts out as Beth having lunch with Bob Stoops to pick his brain on who should replace KF whenever he decides to hang 'em up, morphs once the information passes through a few hands into: "Beth is recruiting Stoops to take over for KF right now!"

Do you think Kirk is just daring Beth to fire him? I don't think she can and the only way he leaves is if he gets all the money he's still owed from the current contract. She can't fire an Iowa legend that was oh so close to getting this team into the CFP. It would be a bad look, but change does need to happen soon though.
Also, I don't want anything to do with either Stoops coming in. Mark had a couple of good seasons and was below average overall, while Bob is too damn old to be starting over and would retire within a few years anyway.

I don't think Kirk is daring her to fire him but a big "problem" Beth does have is KF has several very big friends in terms of donors, former players, and admin at the school and Children's Hospital. To fire Kirk now could have very big PR implications.
What I could see happening is Kirk is kept around in the Athletic Department as a consultant, Fundraiser, Liaison, assistant AD, etc to avoid the buy out and keep his presence around and at least get some value.
Whether it is by Kirk's choice or not it could be a "painless" way to make the transition. Or Kirk may surprise everyone and walk away holding his head high after a disappointing but strong season. The only way I see Stoops coming in would be a bridge to close a gap for something more long term they have.
One issue that I haven't seen talked about much is can Iowa survive an exodus of coaches? NIL Is decent but nowhere near having the ability to build a roster off the portal so is it realistic to stay competitive and gut the program and risk losing a pretty good recruiting class?

I ended up getting a 24" Ariens. Read a lot of good things about Husqvarnas, but they seemed to be very similar and the reviews were pretty good on it and it seemed similar to what I had. A pretty good price too. After Menard's rebate, it was just under $900. I liked the Craftsman I've had since 2009. Really easy to fix as it got old, and both kinds seemed to be very similar to it, so I went with the Ariens, which online comparisons said was for bigger jobs.

Beth is not going to fire KF. Lord. We just had our 10th consecutive 8+ win season. What would be the basis for firing him?
At best, he either wants to retire or is willing to retire if the departure is handled the right way. I don't think either is going on right now, but a replacement will be needed at some point soon.

Damn. Any Ariens under a grand is amazing.
I also went Ariens. Had a 1992 Craftsman 926 that finally gave up the ghost, those flathead Tecumseh engines will run forever and parts are everywhere, but the frame was starting to crack here and there and I was sick of taking it in to work to weld on it. That one was my dad's that I got when he passed away so this was the first one I've bought new and since I'm 45 it'll probably be the last. I'm super particular on maintenance stuff and there just aren't a ton of moving parts with a snowblower. Keep things greased, shut the fuel off and run it dry every time you use it, and change oil every year...they'll outlive both of us.
