Plenty in terms of personal relationships that I respect. Ain’t happening man.
I don't mean the person giving you the tip. Obviously you wouldn't compromise them.

Who is the the prospective coach? If it's Fitz that's no big surprise...his name has been tossed around since he was first seen on the sidelines.

So..
Respect Fry’s integrity.
But speculate on WHO the desired coach may be.
Who do you WANT?
I speculate that Beth & Co have their sights set on Fitz since he was recently on the Iowa sideline, albeit to watch his son play.

Who I want is someone with a proven record of being able to successfully adapt to the changing landscape of college football. So if someone like Lanning, Day, or Cignetti is willing to make the move and is able to bring the deep pockets that they currently dip into for top talent, I’m all for that.

Otherwise I’ll be happy with someone like Fitz who can maintain the program as it is: hard work beating talent just often enough (more often would definitely be better) to keep the program competitive and respected but never enough to make the program elite; which, all things considered is an unrealistic expectation anyway. We is what we is and the NIL era makes it even more difficult for us to be what we ain’t. So I would be okay with Fitz or someone else that can maintain what Kirk has done for the program.

Can't do that. And I don't have complete confidence he will replace Kirk. I am 100% confident however that he's who they're after.

Like I said, anyone can feel free to call bullshit. I have no problem with that.
My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Fryiowa and Nick Saban at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

I voted yes, only because I hit the big 70 this year and I think I have a few good years left in me, so us "youngsters" gotta stick together........on the other hand, next years schedule has tOSU and Michigan, right??

That's what I mean. Not giving out the coach's name

Well, if we are talking moonshots here, how about Lanning? He was just in Iowa City. Maybe he had his agent drop a hint to a mega donor or to Beth. If it is someone like that, I can see why Iowa's administration would move fast to kick its 70 year old statue coach to the curb. Those are once in a lifetime, lightening in a bottle kind of opportunities.

What's a hell of a lot harder to figure out is why Iowa for Lanning? You have to squint pretty hard and come up with creative narratives to see that one.

But if there is truly a mystery candidate that Iowa is willing to fire Kirk for, I'd have to think he has a high enough national profile that Iowa typically wouldn't be able to get him. But for whatever reason, he is interested right now. Either that or it is a guy very steeped in Hawkeye lore and has proven to be a good coach in the past (like Stoops), and a couple of the right donors have mega crushes on him and want to make it happen now. I can't think really think of anyone else with Hawkeye ties that fits that profile.

As long as we are making pie in the sky speculations, what would it take to lure Bobby Stoops out of retirement?

If you were Bob Stoops worth eight figures at age 65, would you want to do something ridiculous like move to Iowa City and have to try and deal with NIL? At a school that can't compete in that regard compared to the top 5-6 schools in your conference?
