Just an FYI...

Here is what Mcnutt needs over the last 5 (or 6 games) to tie the (Iowa) records.

280 yards receiving to tie the 1,037 yard single season record (K. Chappelle 1980).
3 Tds to tie the 11 td single season record (M. Brown 2002).
44 Receptions to tie the 173 reception career mark (DJK(*******)2007-2010).
313 yards to tie the 2,616 career receiving yards record (DJK(*******)2007-2010).
41 receptions to tie the 82 single season receptions mark (K. Kasper 2000).

McNutt’s current pace would produce a line of 76 receptions, 1,406 yards, and 15 Tds. Or 35 receptions 649 yards 7 tds more this season. With the tough upcoming schedule I predict a final season tally of 66 receptions 1,117 yards and 12 Tds.
 
He should break the single season receiving yards, career recieving yards records. McNutt should be able to get 3 more TD's. Coker also has 8 TD's. Is that just a recieving TD record or a TD record?

He won't get the reception records with only 41 so far.

Receptions are an extreme longshot, though if we were to win the division, he'd get an extra game, which would give him a solid chance (7 games to play if that were the case). But the yardage and TD records (both season and career) are his for the taking.

And the TD record is just for receiving TDs. Greene had 20 TDs in 2008.
 
He should see lots of looks again next Saturday, but it's gets more difficult after that. The guy is a stud, and KOK has to find a way to keep feeding him.
 
Too bad we can't play Indiana again. McNutt owns those guys. He had the 92 yarder in 2009, a 50+ yarder in 2010, and 80 yarder in 2011. He's like our version of James Hardy.

I loved seeing all that single coverage on him Saturday. After his 3rd touchdown, I thought, "do they really think that some random white guy can cover him 1 on 1?" We could have thrown to him almost every play.
 
If Kirk were more like Beliema he would have kept McNutt in there the whole game and McNutt would have ended up with 200+ yards and two more TDs.
 
Seems to me that I remember that the consensus at the beginning of the year that the career yardage mark was going to be tough to reach. Now it seems unreasonable that he will not reach that mark.

The odds were certainly against him. He needs to break 1000 yards in order to break the record, which hasn't happened often at Iowa. He's certainly putting on a terrific show right now. But it DID seem unreasonable to expect him to break the yardage record.
 
Too bad we didn't play him against isu and psu....might have a much better chance at the receptions records and we'd probably be 7-0.

No excuse not to try and get him the ball 10+ times a game.

I remember a caller on Soundoff pointing out that Iowa is 5-0 this year in games in which McNutt gets 5 or more catches. That should be a sign. Coker is an important part of the offense, and he seems to be coming around. But McNutt is this offense's most deadly weapon, and we need to use it as much as we reasonably can.
 
McNutt only needs 104 yards to equal the number of yards he had last year. Thats pretty amazing. I'm just trying to enjoy how incredible he is, because very soon he will be gone. Saturday was perhaps the pinnacle of his Iowa career, lets enjoy it.

Great observation. What Justin Blackmon is to Oklahoma State, Marvin McNutt is to Iowa.
I think that is fairly safe to say. Blackmon is way more talented, but McNutt tries harder and outside his drops where he is looking to make a move before hauling it in, McNutt comes close to Blackmon. MM is definitely the best receiver in the B1G with BJ Cunningham at MSU a close second.

I too think MM is #1, but I'm biased. I would say Jenkins of Illinois is a close second w/ Cunningham, Toon, & Posey (when he plays) would round out the top 5.
 
McNutt's behind Blackmon just because of how truly athletic, and how big his wingspan is. He's somewhat like a Calvin Johnson Style reciever.

Don't get me wrong, I'm McNutt's biggest fan, but Blackmon is a freak.
