Forde Minutes: 40 names, games, teams and minutiae making news in college hoops - ESPN

Iowa City also received votes as being the worst basketball town in the big ten.... never in a million years did I think we would stoop to that point.

Blame Lickliter all you want.. but there are plenty of local fans who have the additional income available that could go and support our team... win or lose.. and they choose not to. Illinois brought a ton of fans to Carver on a down year for them.... just saying... it's sad!

A down year is one thing as in Illinois' case.. We've had a down decade.
But you're right, it's sad right now. A team that struggles for this long is bound to lose some attendance. Just the reality of it, unfortunately.

I doubt the people with disposable income that could go to the games obtained that disposable income by following losers...

He is not an Iowa hater. His football pieces aside, Iowa City is a bad basketball town right now.

He is an Iowa hater. Have you read anything he has written this year? Have you heard him in any interviews this year? If he isn't a hater, I would love to see who you think is.

And Iowa City is a bad basketball town right now, but so is the whole state. Except up in Cedar Falls.

That's right, they only get it by following "winners". Well last I checked, people don't get very far if they only work when it's easy to do so. Taking your ball and going home just because things get tough is hardly the ticket to success.

Just because Forde wasn't as high on 2009 Iowa football as Iowa fans, does not make him a hater or a moron. His opinions of Iowa this past season were similar to Colin Cowherd, who has also been labeled as a hater. However, when Cowherd was high on Iowa leading into the 2006 season, people on Iowa message boards loved him.

I never said that it was a good basketball city right now, but I think the majority, if not all (minus yourself) all know that he is an Iowa hater.

Just because something is a "winner" does not mean that it has to be difficult to obtain, follow, or cheer on...

I guess I missed the articles/interview with Pat that he was pro-Iowa.

Yes, I know I am in the minority. But what makes him a hater? Not being high on Iowa last year doesn't make him a hater, it simply means he has a different opinion.

No. "Winners" are easy to follow. "Losers" are difficult to follow. When our guys started becoming "losers", fans stopped following. But by God, they've said it a thousand times, "if you start winning, we'll come back". That seems an awful lot like just bailing on a team because it's harder to support than it used to be. But they'll come back once it's easy to support them again. How could that concept have gone completely over your head?

So he needs to write something favorable about Iowa for people to think he is not a hater?

I honestly couldn't tell you one thing he wrote about Iowa, good or bad, prior to last football season. But, what he did write looked like he had a lower opinion of Iowa than most Iowa fans. I fail to see how that makes him a hater.

I don't think being tied for first in the big ten qualifies as a "down" year, and if it does I would love to have a bunch of down years.

Because he was among the many who considered us a fraud until after the Orange Bowl. One of those "this is the worst 9-0 team in history" kind of guys. But if an SEC team does exactly what Iowa does, then that team is "gutty, resilient", etc.
