I can't believe they would pay 3 coaches. 2 dead horses and 1 live one. That is just plain crazy! There's something wrong with a fan base when that happens. But who am I to judge such a blue blood winning tradition such as the fuskers. Knock yourselves out! Lol

I know a couple die-hard nebraska fans. Its brutal trying to have an honest conversation about football with them. They still legitimately believe they are a national powerhouse. Its super frustrating trying to explain to them that their last championship was 20 years ago. They had a great run in the 90s but those days are long gone and never coming back. There's not a single Nebraska high school student right now that was alive for Nebraska's last national title. Let that sink in for a bit

Sure, they're occasionally going to have a great season, maybe win the Big Ten West every so often. But even that would put them on the same level as Iowa and Wisconsin, and they aren't even there yet.
 
Even if you assume that everything during the Devaney and Osborne years was completely above board they played within the college system at the time and won. But now the times have changed. There's no going back to the days of yore. Unless they want to pack up and move UNL to the middle of the Deep South there aren't enough hay-bailing young kids in Nebraska to stock a D1 football team and make them contenders again.

Yep, a lot of factors are working against Nebraska now. Hell, Iowa is pulling kids like Noah Fant out of Omaha.

I will say that Nebraska still recruits better than every Big Ten West team, based on the star system anyway. Doesn't seem to be doing them any good though without the coaching

Once you get sucked into reading the lunacy you can't stop. It's like an inside look into some strange cult that you know is going to end up on CNN after ritually drinking poisoned Kool Aid because their prophecies never came true. We just hope they don't take their children with them.

Most off those star athletes are skill players, they are not getting the four star athletes that they need in the trenches. I'll take Iowa's recruiting over theirs' any day.

Bingo! They're still recruiting as if they're in the Big 12 instead of the B1G West. Sure, those 4 star skill position guys look nice on paper....but if you can't protect the QB trying to pass to those 4 star receivers or you can't open holes for those 4 star RBs, then it doesn't really matter. The day they came into the league, they should have been recruiting the hell out of OL and DL guys from the midwest. They're reaping what they have sown in recruiting, no doubt.....

Yeah... I work in Omaha. I distinctly remember coworkers basically assuming their place next to Michigan and Ohio State when they joined the conference. So hilarious. Of course now they deny it. I even have one coworker who was excited about the Reilly hire. Totally lying through his teeth now. That's delusional. I'll admit being wrong wanting Kirk to retire (not be fired, he'll never be fired nor should he be) after 2014 but these nuts won't even admit to things they clearly said multiple times just a few years ago.
 
They gotta be butt hurt over losing Fant to us. The way his recruiting went and how he went on a local radio program there to punk them was just awesome. That to me is almost a microcosm of where they are. They can't see the forest through the trees as far as where their program is. Listening to Deace talk about that on their podcast really summed it all up well. Their AD hired Riley in less than a week when he could have been their ultimate last resort fall back guy. Why hire a coach when you are guaranteed to at best be replacing him in 5 or 6 yrs? Or even worse than that he have the program where they are now. There's just absolutely no logic in their decision to replace Pelini to go with Riley. If your replacing Pelini you gotta shoot for the stars and they didn't even try. They couldn't have in the short time he spent getting Riley. It's one thing if you shoot and miss but dang if you think Riley is your program saver... Let's just say as big of a problem having Riley coach that team is he isn't even their biggest one...
 
One of my coworkers actually said "Eichorst is from Wisconsin, he's probably trying to actually ruin the program." I think some Husker fans seriously need medication.
