WOW BO TO RETIRE EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

The Grinch finally bails.....wonder if his crappy team had much to do with it.

While I found his candor to be somewhat refreshing, the way he dis'd Uthoff is all I need to know about his true self.

B1G channel is gushing all over him....please.

Christmas just kicked the Grinch outta here!

I watched a lot of the first half of WUs and Texas Corpus-Christi. It was brutal. You could hear a pin drop, the stands weren't close to full and WUs didn't score for almost the first 5 minutes of the game. I think WUs was losing 5-3 at the 16/under timeout.

According to Linesetter/Activevager, Bo talked about coaching 4 or 5 more years!
Hard to believe this is the same Cryin Bo Ryan that got all butt hurt when a player wanted to transfer. But I guess it's OK for Cryin Bo to quit in the middle of the season.

He said he was going to retire. Which Bo Ryan knew people would interpret as meaning after the season. Which is deception.

Most importantly, no one in his or her right mind would believe that Ryan would quit right now if his team was undefeated or had maybe one loss. He gave up. And crapped on his players.

I agree with you that Wisconsin BB is not worth an argument over. I'm just a proponent of calling a spade a spade and Bo Ryan's an insufferable, selfish *****.

Well he he said he wanted to retire before the season however his top assistants father was having health problems, and didn't want to put him in that situation. This is an assistant he worked with all the way back to his days at UW Platteville and desperately wanted to have an opportunity to be a head coach at UW. People have also speculated that Barry was not going to guarantee his assistant was going to be the next coach so this was a way he would guarantee him a shot. Neither of of these seem overly selfish in my opinion (some would argue that it's selfish to try and pick the next coach but he's also being loyal to his guy). From all accounts Barry is the biggest tool in that Athletic Department and it isn't really close so I havin a ******* match with him doesn't bother me a whole lot.

I guess my point is your opinion is just that your opinion, seeing as how none of us really know everything that happened we are all limited to our own opinions.

Great news for Iowa and other teams fighting to finish in top half of conference year in and out, as Wisky prenenial top 5 team with Bo.

Fans on Wisky boards think that Ben Jacobson will come if offered. Not sure I'd like to see him in the Big Ten.

I would NOT want to be the next coach at Wisconsin. Expectations are impossibly high considering what Bo has done there, and especially considering he had back to back final 4 appearances. Wisconsin has never recruited at an elite level, and Bo has won with is system more than elite recruits. I just don't know how many guys out there could continue to win like that. Heck look at how bad Indiana is with great recruits under Crean or Illinois under Groce. I just don't see Jacobson being able to continue that kind of success there. No knock against him, it will be tough for anyone

If I were Barry I'd go hard after Tony Bennett. That dude has done an awesome job at Washington St. and Virginia and does it with a good system and gets a lot of 4* kids as well.

Great point Dean, Tony is a damn good coach, it's only fitting to offer since his dad was a coach there....

This exact thought process crossed my mind also. This gives Wisconsin a chance to evaluate the assistant to see what he can do. As a coach Bo was excellent and it will be difficult for whisky to replace him.

I did not agree with how he handled the Uthoff situation as it was very selfish on his part. This should give Iowa a recruiting edge over whisky now that Bo is gone:

Bo+Ryan+Grinch+2.BMP

OMG that's creeeepy, but spot on. LOL. They first is the best. Weird.

Iowa isn't in Wisconsin's league in terms of success. 3 Final Fours and 4 Big Ten Titles in the past 15 years and I can't even remember the last one here

After the UNI-esque choke job Wisky just had, maybe Jacobson is even a better fit than people thought.

Why would Bennett leave Virginia, ACC school which gets great pub from their conference. Yeah his dad was at Wisky but Virginia closer to fertile recruiting grounds.

Wisconsin got jobbed by the officials at the end of that game, and that's coming from someone who hates Wisconsin. The refs swallowed their whistles and let Notre Dame foul without it being called.

They sure did but Wisconsin has benefited from thug defense, because refs swallowed their whistles, for 20 years now. I got no sympathy. The refs let Augustine get away with murder out there.
