Worst Play Call of the Year?

Did anyone else see late in 4th quarter of the Purdue game when it was 4th and 3 with the game on the line? The ball was snapped, and everything seemed to go according to plan; Vandenberg threw the ball the best he could, Zach Derby caught it and was subsequently tackled to end the play. It was a complete pass and we only had 3 yards to go, we had to have gotten there, right? WRONG.

The play looked to only be designed to get a single yard!

Was this the worst play call of the year? I believe it was.

EDIT: I didn't make this thread to discuss this play specifically. I was wondering what you guys think has been the worst one, and that was merely my vote. Sorry if I didn't make that clear.

What do YOU GUYS think has been the worst play call of the year?

I would say CMU, knowing they would be going for the onside, and just looking at the ball instead of going and getting it.

That wasn't so much a play call, just a mental blunder by one of our blunder-prone players.

I'd say it was a play call in the fact that our coaches picked the personel on the field, and if you know someone is known to make bad mistakes when the spotlight is on them, then don't have them on the field if the game is on the line.

That is not a play call. That is game preperation. Which sucked.

It's a called play and Davis has been calling them all year with little to no success. Davis' plan is to throw passes to the flats and have the receivers make plays to gain yards. I don't know why, but that's the way he does it.

Any 3rd and long for the other's offense. A sure 1st down against our bendy pass defense.

You can throw in any 3rd down for our team as well.

3rd and long for opponent, they get first down and probably a TD.
3rd and long for us, take the distance needed for the first down, divide by 3, and run route to that distance with at least 2 players and Vandy look nowhere else.

The worst play call for me was, I think, against Penn State. They ran a stretch play to the short side of the field and lost 2 yards then they turn around and ran the exact same play again for no gain. All I could do was laugh.
