Worst Oline in school history…

could we say the recruiting under barnet has been substandard?
That's a legitimate question. We are years from Reese Morgan setting the golden standard. We have now two O-line coaches from his glory days. It makes you wonder, and is a legit concern. The center we got from the transfer portal has connections for Barnett.

While Iowa has a strong reputation of putting linemen in the NFL, that can erode very quickly with a few subpar seasons. Was there any truth to KF giving some of his focus to the O-line to help out? I thought I read that somewhere?

And there's still the elephant in the room with the departure of Doyle from our S&C program. Coincidence?

Last year I talked to a player from my area who graduates in May, and according to him the strength program is identical under Braithwaite as it was under Doyle.

Braithwaite worked under Doyle from 2003 until he got booted, that's a long time to learn his methods.

Doyle-ized sounds so much better than Braithwaite-ized, though. Used to be you'd see a 197 pound kid out of Oskaloosa and you'd say "once that kid gets Doyle-ized he will be a beast." And it was always true.

I have had a hard time believing our O Line struggles have been related to the strength program. If that were the case, the D Line should be struggling too. And that hasn't been the case.

Exactly. And its not that the OL was particularly undersized last season. There were just young, banged up and could not find a solution at RT. Oh and they were blocking for the least mobile QB in recent memory who was trying to complete passes to walk-ons.

The OL will be bigger, more experienced and be led by a QB who can make plays. That is why they will be better.

I agree with your last statement. Hopefully he can avoid injury and re-injury. Unfortunately that is not going to change the offensive schemes of the last 25 years. :(

If somehow you could keep Parker and the special teams coaches and jettison everyone else, I believe it would be an improvement in the over all program success. The offense has always seemed to be below par. The law firm of Parker and Parker have saved a certain coach’s a$$.
