I don't know if this video has been posted yet or not but here's a good video on him.

For being 7' tall, he plays below the rim quite a bit.

I'm sure that is partly due to the opponents he is facing and partly due to his TRex arms.

He definitely moves very well and can handle the ball. It also showed he is a very good passer. Hopefully when he gets to Iowa they can get him to be more aggressive towards the rim. There were a lot times in the video where I was wondering why he didn't just dunk it.

I love it when a made free throw shows up on a highlight video.

Seriously, though, the interior passing is exciting to see. That's the sort of thing that could get Melsahn going again-- if Woodbury draws any sort of extra attention it could be a feast of easy buckets for Mel, White, McCabe, etc.

uses both hands very well. Not too many kids at that level have a jump hook, let alone both directions. Bulk and strength and he will be a beast.

I mean the reality is he's going to have way more opportunities for his jump hook than he will for a dunk, so its good to see he has those skills, it would be nice to see some more athletic ability.

Exactly. Anybody can dunk. lol. Seemed to run the floor pretty well, too. Just his defensive presence in the middle is going to change this team completely, IMO.

Check out this video, against better competition

you do realize him dunking is not due to him not being able to. but it has more to do with not having to
nice hook shot can use either hand to score around the basket, very unselfish, can't wait to see White and Basabe getting those passes. this kid is going to get a lot of assists.
and will take dbl teams off Basabe, then you have McCabe that will benefit from those passes, quit griping about the little things and look at the whole picture, not many people can score around the basket with both hands;
the kid is not going to be a dunking machine, because he doesn't have to be

The kids greatest asset is going to be his ability to go with either hand. Getting to the rim wont be a problem either. He's 7 foot tall. I too would probably have gone for the dunk. But I don't see it being anything to question. He's got a lot of dunking days ahead of him. He's got great footwork too!

Looks like lots of folk like the jump hook.....

Plays very nice D, runs the floor, and has a deadly hook shot with either hand, a shot that is extremely difficult to block. He really doesn't have to dunk the ball, Adam can score in a variety of ways around the basket. He just puts the ball in the hole the easiest and most direct way possible with the least amount of effort.

He is. of course, a lot taller that the opponents in the clip, but he has played extremely well on the AAU circuit attracting a lot of attention and accolades for his stellar play.....

I think his hook shot is his best weapon, along with his sure-handed passing which will, as has been mentioned, open things up considerably for Mel, Aaron and Zach among many others.....

It was nice to see him sitting in front of Mr. Davis yesterday. Probably was a thrill for Adam, being the Hawkeye lover all his life. Can't wait to see him on the floor in a Hawkeye Uniform.....

:)

I just saw the first video. Woodbury is a 7'1" kid who runs well and is skilled, but if you want dunks, White will have to be your guy. Woodbury is skilled versus explosive and so I think what he will offer is unique (not on this team currently) but it may not relate to a lot of points/explosive plays in his first year.

A couple things impressed me in the initial video in this thread. Adam W shoots lefty, but throws a long outlet pass with his right arm?? Who does that? He will be very, very valuable player, because of his apparent basketball savvy, around the hoop, passing and shooting it, very well.

He has soft touch on the hooks with both hands..like some have said, he's going to use those skills a lot at the next level...and his recognition of low block double teams and looking for the opposite block cutter? Huge to have that thinking already.

Obviously he can dunk the ball. What I want to see, projecting to the Iowa offense, is a kid who can run the floor and is not a big galoot...Adam can do that.

That last long outlet pass he threw in the first video was with his right hand. He's left handed right? That's pretty impressive if you ask me.
