From article:

“To be honest, it really bothers me,” White said. “A lot of guys get on him — not our guys — but the fans. You see a lot of people hating on him. There’s a lot to the game of basketball that you don’t see on a stat sheet. Just because he’s not scoring 10 to 12 points a game, and grabbing 10 to 12 rebounds, doesn’t mean he’s not impacting our team. He’s such an anchor defensively. He’s the most vocal guy on the team when it comes to defense, whether it’s zone or man-to-man.”

I like that Whitey and the team have his back and he's right, but I hope they aren't spending too much time listening to the fans. Put the blinders on and take care of business...we all know fans are stupid.

I think he gets some unfair criticism but that comes with the territory. I think he does a good job on defense, for the most part. He's much better at keeping guys off the block and his hedging is good as well. He needs to learn to pick his battles, when the opponent has the ball in the paint. That's when he gets in foul trouble. Points and rebounds are part of the expectations that come with being 7'1. I think some of that criticism is fair because his teammates try to run the offense through him. He just doesn't convert a lot of looks. White, Uthoff, Basabe and Clemmons all have higher FG %s than Woody. That's not a figment of someone's imagination. He's 9th in scoring and 5th in rebounding on this team.

You aren't stupid Shane; are you not a fan? ;)

When has the offense ever "ran through him" if he gets the ball, it is very rarely in a scoring position as the art of passing a ball to the block is a lost art of basketball today.

I don't think the offense is ever run through woody. Marble and gesell run the offense and everyone else plays off them in the half court. Uthoff should have more run through him. White gets more than woody in the half court ran through him and white is not a good half court offensive player.

Everyone has such high expectations of him because he came in so highly touted. Where Olaseni comes in as a 1 star recruit and everyone loves him because he exceeds expectations.

It isn't fair and it comes with the territory, they would not have been any easier on him at North Carolina.

Maybe it comes with the territory, but it doesn't make it right. Adriean Payne was a Top 10 recruit and he really didn't do a whole lot until last season. MSU fans have loved him from day 1.

Sometimes it's the first 3 plays pf the game. Go to you DVRs. Look at it. 1st, 3rd and 4th possession of NW game. Every game I've seen (which is all but 2) the offense has gone through Woody early in the game and early in the 2nd half. I'm sure it's to try and get him involved early on. It's there.

I think Woody has played well since the ISU game. This article seems to be about 1 month late...
