Woodbury gets schooled

I never expected him to come in right away and produce big numbers because he needs to put on some strength, he is not as skilled as someone like a cody zeller, and usually big guys take awhile to develop. I see him putting in about 15-18 minutes a game his freshman year.

If he can alter/block a few shots a game and get some rebounds it will be good enough for me.

So, if I'm following this thread correctly, Cole got schooled by Woodbury when he attempted to counter Adam's superior handles with a cobra kai move??

That is the longest and most intelligent post I have ever seen from Ghost......when pushed he is more than just jokes, picture links, and snide remarks!

Zeller and Wooddburys offensive skills are totally different.

Zeller is a face up 4, even though he is listed as a five.

Woodbury is a 100% back to the basket true 5.

There is really no point in comparing the two.

No, I wasn't at the game. I was responding to a poster who said that Woody will be a good defender next season. I could be wrong, but in a game where his counterpart scores 20% of his team's points and gets him into foul trouble, I inferred that he had trouble on the defensive end. Perhaps it was presumptuous of me to say that his defense wasn't "very good", and take that statement with a grain of salt, but I am comfortable reaching that conclusion based on the evidence at hand.

Judging someones defense based on a state line is silly. You don't know when or how Cole scored, you don't know when or how Woodbury picked up the fouls.

He could have picked up every foul going for rebounds or on help D for all you know.

From reports of people who actualy saw it, physically Woodbury held his own against Cole fine and was actualy too physical and grabby. Cole then scored most of his points when Woodbury was out.

Everyone here is judging him off a stat line, because no one here saw the game. YHe could have got all of his fouls going for rebounds, but I don't know that for sure. Neither do you.

Like I said, I came to a conclusion based on what info I have. Sounds like they went right after Woody's defensive game, he wasn't ready for it, and they got him on the bench. JMHO....

I said it when he committed and will stand by it until proven wrong....Woodbury = Jepsen

And Im sure this conclusion is coming from a very well informed position.

That being that all 7 foot white guys who choose to play at Iowa are going to be the same player no matter how different the credentials are coming in.

Some people did see it though, so there is more information to go on than pure speculation.

Having actually seen both players (old enough to have season tickets for the Jepsen years) play several times, I would say that is better than what you are basing your opinion on.

Also, not sure why comparing him to somebody who averaged almost 15 ppg as a senior is such an insult.

Well, so far none of those people have come here to tell me I'm wrong. I am basing my conclusions on accounts of the game from people who were there, just like everyone else.

Most people don't want to take their time discussing anything with you because it isn't worth their time.

from seeing woody in person in hs...his defense is NOT what got him a scholly. he is an average defender at best and was that in hs because of his height. he doesnt have the timing to block shots and got most of them because he is 7 ft tall. he has a great touch around the rim, passes great for a big man, and rebounds above average again for his size (some are because he is just taller). he will be a solid offensive player in his frosh yr. defensively he will foul a lot...probably mccabe-esque and he will probably be attacked on pick and rolls. along with the fact he isnt a true shot blocker (basabe and white are our shot blockers...hopefully gabe), i wouldnt expect a great defender.

You didn't liken him to Brommer. At least he has that going for him...
