Won't be surprised if Tucker plays tonight

Lick is the coach and I yield to his insight on this matter. Personally, I think Tucker should move on after the season for everyone's sake, but again, up to lick.
If he plays tonite...I would not be shocked. If he starts, color me shocked.
If he sits again...no shock.

I don't think there's a chance that Tucker starts the rest of the year. He'll be off the bench for at least the rest of this season. With Payne, May, and Gatens - there's no room right now for him in the SL.

I still think Tucker should be shown the door at the end of this semester. He has demonstrated 3 times that he can't keep himself eligible to play. As far as minutes, even God doesn't understand how Lick determines who plays and who sits from 1 minute to the next. Lil Lick is still a better ball handler and does a better job of running the offense than Tucker. So, I would hope Tucker does not get John's minutes.

Ugh

I think Tucker will see some minutes tonight because it's a home game. The crowd won't be chanting "alcoholic" at him like the road crowd did to him last year. Let him get some minutes under his belt in a friendly environment before he gets absolutely killed by a road crowd. For this reason, I'm kinda glad Lick didn't play him at Ohio State.

I don't think any of us have first hand knowledge of what is being said to Tucker by Lick, I sure don't.

If the kid has met all set guidelines by the university then he is eligible to play. The only person that is holding him out of the games at this point is Lick. Enough is enough with this Hoosiers mentality. You are either committing to have him as part of your team or you are committing to run him off at the end of the season.

We have 8 games plus the BTT remaining on our schedule. He has sat out 13 of the 24 games so far this season and has missed every Big10 game.

I think the coach continues to keep the best interest of the team in mind along with what he feels is best for Tucker from a personal fatherly standpoint. If he doesn't play tonight then I wouldn't expect him to until at least the next home game as I still feel it best to transition him back while at CHA. However, with 8 games remaining and the latest comments on not giving up on this team and simply jumping to next year's recruits, etc. I've gotta believe his outside shot is definitely on the coaching staff's mind as they prepare for a tough zone defense tonight and at the very least by dressing for the game, we at least have options should Gatens re-injure his ankle or foul trouble becomes an issue, etc.

If it is Lick's intention to not play Tucker the rest of the season; that is in essence showing him the door. In that case a real disservice to Tucke and the team; he should have just booted him, and let him find a new start. And at the same time bring in a point guard for next year while a lot more guys were available than there will be in April.

Based on Lick's public comments one could infer that he was very concerned that Tucker had a real problem with alcohol, and/or something else in life that was causing him to make mistakes, and felt that the last thing he should do at this time was abandon the kid by simply kicking him off the team and having nothing more to do with him. He may have felt that it was important to reach out to Anthony, try to provide support and stability, adn not even worry about the basketball angle for a while. And to be cautious about when it might be okay for playing basketball again to be added to the mix, because there is tress and there is pressure and there will be some measure of added ridicule when he starts playing again.

That's what I would speculate is behind how Lick has handled this situation.

Oh my God, do you really believe what you typed? If he truly didn't want him to worry about basketball then why is he practicing? If he truly believed it then why jerk around in the media saying what he is saying? Do you think he's telling the media one thing and then turning to Tucker and say, "dude, you know I'm just messing the media right?".

The best thing for a baller is to get back on the court. If this kid breaks another rule, a curfew, a meeting, a practice, a class, he's gone but I would lay very clear ground rules of what I expected from him from here on out. Each player has a leash. It is up to that player on how short that leash is going to be.
