The answer is easy, and it's YES.

Yes, he would still be around at a top SEC program, because in those recruiting hotbeds down south, he'd be pulling in 4 and 5 star athletes consistently (and over-signing) and his teams would be a lot more successful than they are at Iowa.

Prostyle offense and a great defense based on team speed from top notch recruits - seems like it works at more than one place in the SEC.

The buyout has virtually nothing to do with this. It's all in the fan base, and especially the deep pocket donors.

By all counts not one word was said during Bary Garta's conference call with the Hawkeye Nation proles the other night about the poor product on the field last season. More time was spent talking about railings, problems old ladies have getting to their seats, the new big-azz video boards planned for Kinnick, parking. Granted, these were not the 1 percenters like OK4P who have Garta's private line number in their smart phones and who will force his hand should Iowa suffer through two more 4-8 seasons. But if the masses aren't rioting and the big bucks guys aren't getting pizzed at the return on their investment, as they were in Lick's final year, nothing will be done.
