With no buyout, is Kirk Ferentz coach today?

After two 7-5 regular seasons, and then a 4-8 campaign, is there anyone that really thinks Kirk would be fired?

Would his seat be warm? Yes. Extremely. I still believe he'd be the coach, and I also believe he deserves it. Another 4-8 year or worse? Then he get's the boot. (in this scenario)

Just curious what everybody thinks, and this should be an interesting thread..

Yes, mostly because of the Orange Bowl win in his recent history. I would say his seat would be very warm going into 2013 with no buyout.

Today, yes, but after the '13 season without an impressive bowl win (7-8+ wins) and signs of a real future I would say he would be fired.

Very good question and tough one to answer. For sure the seat would be hot and another bad season next year he be gone. I would say he would still be here though this year regardless.

great question, has not been brought up to date. curious to see what people think as well.

Yes but this will be his last year. I think he needs to do better by at least 1 game to keep his job and by looking at the schedule that's going to be almost impossible. This yearly I only see a 2-2 record in the pre season and a big fat 0-8 in conference.

Without his Barta Special Solid Platinum, 24 Karat Gold Plated, Diamond Encrusted Buyout Clause, Kurt's seat would be hotter than Satan's sh!tter after a habanero and Hot Damn bender.

For anyone that doesn't know this would be VERY hot. Sometimes these fancy words may get the average dude confused. Here to serve.

I heard Barta say flat out that, at Iowa, 7-5 is not acceptable. Wonder what he thinks of 4-8. I remember him telling Alford that his mediocracy was not good enough and he needed to see improvement by the following year. Wonder if he trotted that one out for the Captain.

If he has another 4-8 season he is in trouble period. With or with out a buy out. He would probley not get fired. But the writing would be on the wall that he cant fix this. Which many on here already think. I belive he started a complete retooling of the program last year. I felt he would do more changing last year but as we know he is very deliberate. I think he plans on turning it back around and finishing his contract. Sorry guys.

The level to which I find the majority of this dumb is amazing. Give me a break.
