They have almost always been a straight ahead running team with Bielema, Anderson and Chryst (Alvarez also used that deep handoff wide running play). The occasional jet sweep or a rare reverse are about their only wide running plays. They just keep using these straight ahead running plays and get their yards and occasionally pop a big one. Wear the opponent down to win the 2nd half.
Iowa seems to have a negative running play every 3rd or 4th run usually with an outside zone run. Perhaps the hawks should go to straight ahead power running with fullback leads, an occasional counter run to the fullback, QB under center all the time, have a sneaky QB sneak every so often, just gouge out yards, control the clock, and have some great play action passing.
