Wisconsin’s B1G Schedule

Wisconsin will be playing for a share of the B1G title Saturday at Indiana. I looked up their B1G schedule along with the current conference standings.

Single plays (conference rank)
-Maryland (T-1)
-Illinois (4)
-Iowa (T-5)
-Penn State (T-5)
-Michigan (9)
-NW (14)

Double plays:
-MSU (T-1)
-OSU (7)
-Rutgers (8)
-Purdue (T-10)
-Indiana (T-10)
-Minnesota (12)
-Nebraska (13)

So they’ve had an awfully easy schedule by the numbers. Add to that they won 4 home games (Maryland, MSU, Purdue, Minny) by a combined 9 points.

Right now, they look like a team that will be playing in the B1G Final a week from Sunday.
We shall see. They are playing better ball right now for certain.

With that said their current 7 game win streak includes wins at Nebraska (13), home vs Purdue (T-10), home Vs Rutgers (8), home Vs Minny (12), and home vs NW (14). Not exactly murderers row.

Sadly, that's why I like having a smaller conference so you play everybody twice. Unbalance schedules in sports suck.

Winning teams always seem to play easy schedules. Their dominance over weak sisters is part of what makes their schedule look easy.

Damn Badgers are doing it again! Their offense looks so simple to defend. Their defense looks so simple to attack. But all they do is score more points than their opponentt in that game.

Some have compared it to Kirkball. I have a basketball comparison. The old St. John's teams that Lou Carnessecca used to coach. Lou was a disciple of legendary Joe Lapchick (who was also one of Bobby Knight's first mentors). His sets were so simple, walk it up and get it to key people. Defend. Protect the ball. It was what Lickliter tried and failed to do here.

You had all the glory teams in the Big East then. Georgetown, Syracuse, Villanova, UConn, but Saint John's always found a way to stay with them. Some of their standout players included Chris Mullin, Bill Wennington, Walter Berry and Mark Jackson.

You conveniently left out a win away at Michigan and home against OSU. Any schedule looks weak when you cherry pick the opponents. The Badgers schedule was heavily front-loaded, so of course the back end was weaker.

Coincidemce or not, the Badgers clearly took off when Kobe King left the program. Though they dont exactly play the same position the player who may have benefitted most was Aleem Ford. Potter has also found his groove after being thrown in on the fly.

They had a tough week when King left, Davison was suspended, and they lost to Iowa and Minnesota. I believe they've only lost once since then and that was at Michigan State.

Not a bad year for the Gard brothers as little brother Jeff is kicking it up in Platteville and is advancing in tne division 3 tourney.

The refs have let the thuggish style play get worse and worse down the home stretch. That benefits MSU, WI, RUT and PUR the most. And all know how to take advantage. But you guys had roster issues, etc. and won 14. Congrats on the 14 wins.
