Wisconsin May Have Russell: Title Contender??

It's time to call them champs of the league. Really, with Wilson, how can anyone stay within 3 touchdowns of wisky? They are so much better with this guy than the previous QB...what's his name. Oh yes, Tolzien. 2nd team all-big ten and #1 in pass efficiency in the big ten. Tolzien couldn't hold Wilson's jock-strap. Anyone betting on any other team than Wisky is a fool.

He is step above the "game manager" qb that Wisky has had for I dunno the last 20 years. Given how the schedule plays out and with a running game he will be able to play action and do various stuff off the waggle play that it sets up pretty nicely for Wisky.

No getting around it given OSU problems.....The leaders division is for the taken.

I don't understand all the love for this guy. Sure he has thrown for a lot of yards and TD's but he has also thrown a ton of passes to accomplish this because he has completed under 60% for his career.

If he completes under 60% at Wisconsin they won't throw the ball enough for this guy to do damage through the air.

First of all the idea that a college QB with a completion percentage less than 60% is fail... well is fail.

Russell Wilson is a GREAT college QB.

For all you pos(t)ers that claim that ACC FB defenses are no way as good as Big Ten defenses... not so fast my friends. Maybe overall... but RW has killed the Tar Heels the last 3 years and they have had a pretty solid defense over this time (I've watched it IN PERSON!)

The kid holds the NCAA record for most attempts without an interception and already has 76 TD passes (Stanzi had 56?) AND 17 rushing TD's.

He is incredibly smart, a quick learner and no one talks crap about him, his work ethic nor his ability to FIT IN and be a team mate.He can pick up "the incredibly sophisticated offense" that Wisky runs.

When I first heard of the possibility RW was returning to college FB I crossed my fingers it would be to Auburn.

Mark my words... this will somehow come to haunt IOWA.. probably in the Big Ten Title game when he scrambles with less than 20 seconds on 4th and 17 and makes a first down. Wisky takes a knee and then kicks a 30 yard FG for a 38 to 37 victory and goes to the BCS Championship game.

Iowa settles for some 2nd tier BCS Bowl.

Sounds like he would be a nice addition if the Badgers land him; however, I don't see them completely abandoning their offensive philosophy for one player ... for one year. Yes, I would be more apt to throw the ball, but Wisky is still Wisky and won't all of a sudden become the Boise State of the Big 10...

Thanks for ruining my 2011 season now that you have told me the future ...

Great, Lee Corso is on Hawkeye Nation.

Gee, let me think of what happened the last time Iowa played a vaunted ACC offense. Sure, Wisconsin had a sick o-line last year, but the studs that held that line down are gonzo. And bringing in a kid for a year is a desperate move by Bielema. Ferentz and O'Keefe never start a kid at QB after 20 practices or whatever he gets in August - it just ain't enough time with a pro style offense, you need hundreds of reps to know where guys are going to be on every single play in the playbook. I don't care if he ran it at NCSU, that's with different receivers and a different o-line and different defenses.

I'm sticking with my pick of Illinois to win that division - Scheelhause with a year under center is gonna be tough to beat (though the losses of Tez, Liuget and LeShoure are big). Other than the annual safety pick of OSU, the pundits are ALWAYS wrong and they are unanimously now crowning Wisconsin. Sure, Wisconsin's gonna look great rolling up the score on Eastern Tennessee Institute for the Blind, et al, early in the season, but the wheels will fall off that bus and Illinois will get a handful of lucky breaks that will save Ron Zook's job. Hell, Ron Zook has been to more Rose Bowls as a head coach than Kurt Ferentz, therefore he is a better coach.

Half of winning in the Big Ten is getting lucky as hell and those no talent hacks from Wisconsin burned through three seasons of luck last year in Iowa City just like we burned through 2 seasons of luck in East Lansing and against Indiana in 2009 (and three seasons of luck at the end of that LSU game). Let us not forget, Wisconsin is the same team (minus several studs like Moffit, Tolzien, Carimi, Watt and Kendricks) that got absolutely manhandled by mid major TCU.

If Fitzgerald was the head coach at Wisky, I'd crown them, but Bielema ain't Fitz and he's good for 2 losses a year, just like Norm Parker.

I don't understand why everyone is freakin' about Wisky landing Wilson. The chances of Iowa meeting Wisconsin next year are slim to none. The only positive about this whole thing is that maybe Wisky will put a beat down on Nebraska.

Your post fails for several reasons but I will just point out that Wilson did not kill the Tar Heels last year (I didn't look at previous years). Here are his numbers from last year against them: 15/29 163 yds, 51% 2Tds and 1 INT.

Not exactly dominating, but for fun's sake lets look at his numbers against Virginia Tech to see if he dominated there defense: 21/49 362 yds, 42.9% 3TDs and 3INTs. Good yardage but a ton of attempts, bad percentage and lots of INT's.

This guy is not impressive against good teams, yeah against weak ACC teams he can put up decent numbers but so could other average QBs that throw the ball as much as he did. he also only averaged about 6 or 7 yds per completion.

The only reason he is getting so much press is because, (a) it is a slow time of year, and (2) Wisconsin had crap at QB so an average QB is a big upgrade.

That's the bottom line. He should be an upgrade from what they had, and their running attack should help him out a bit.
