Wisconsin at Indiana tonight

I was actually hoping Wisky had won. A Wisky loss hurts our RPI.

BTW....Crean sucks. Had two of the best players in the USA last year and couldn't figure out how to beat a zone.

It's not going to hurt our RPI in a significant way. Besides, you win the Big Ten and you're practically guaranteed at least a 2 seed.

That bodes extremely well for us when we play Indiana.

Speaking of zone defense....that's the reason Connie lost tonite. Bo won't play a zone defense and that's a good way to stop guard penetration. And Indiana isn't a good 3 pt shooting team.

I don't understand why? I don't pay attention . Could you explain?

He knows his basketball, Atomic, but it a knowitall type of guy and over the years when we were not too good he was rather nasty making comments about the Hawks. But now that we are much better he speaks well of us. It will be interesting to hear what he has to say when he does his next Hawkeye game. Some consider him a loudmouthed jerk.....

Others like him because he is knowledgeable about the game.....

I have called him a jerk during some game chats and liked what he had to say other times.....

He is an enigma wrapped in a riddle surrounded by mystery.....

Twitter lighting it up bashing Indiana for storming the court.

I really don't get why it's a problem. Sure, they're Indiana. But an unranked team just knocked off the #3 team; that sounds like a court-storming game if there ever was such a thing.

Me neither, I do not think any program is above rushing the court after a big win.

lulz, nonsense.

If Iowa has any dreams of winning the B1G this year they need Wisky to lose any game they can. Wisky only plays MSU and OSU once each and they get both teams in the Kohl Center.

Wisky may not be the best team in the B1G but they have the easiest path to the title of any of the contenders.

I wouldnt even be thinking of this if Iowa didnt pull out a huge win in Columbus Sunday but that outcome made a B1G title push for the Hawks a reality.

It was a huge win last night for Iowa's sake.

That's life on the road in the Big Ten... Wisconsin is a decent team but they were never what their record said.

Indiana's RPI will jump way up which will help us if we beat them so it all evens out RPI wise.

It's like lightning was trolling us until Iowa beat Ohio State. All of a sudden he became logical.

I must say it is fun being able to root for the mid and lower level teams (e.g. Indiana and Northwestern) to beat the contenders because it improves our chances of winning the title.

For the past several years I would root for the mid to lower level teams to lose so we could, just possibly, finish ahead of them. This is better.

Read my post again Mr. Lulz.

I said RPI, not winning the league.

That is all.

The "lulz" was at you for thinking RPI is going to matter this year for the Hawks.

Iowa hasnt won a B1G title in 35 years and this is the Hawks first legitimate chance in 8 years and you are worried about RPI? Derp.

RPI is for teams on the outside trying to find a way in. We're past the stage of hoping a certain team wins in the hopes it improves our RPI to make us look better. Now we're at the point where we're in contention and the only thing we care about is seeing the teams ahead of us or right along side us lose to lesser teams to get us one game closer to the top. Forget RPI, and focus on climbing the Big Ten ladder to the top and staying there once we get there.

I am still keeping an eye on it since they do use RPI to help seed the teams. Plus it is an interesting talking point and why else would we be interested in Xavier vs Georgetown tonight?

But the RPI impact of Wisconsin vs Indiana if very minimal. If you believe Iowa has a shot at the Big Ten regular season title then you want Indiana to win as Wisconsin has a very weak schedule. But if you are just hoping for a bid and a good seed then you want Wisconsin to win since you get a small RPI boast playing Wisconsin twice and Iowa only plays Indiana once.

But, again, fun to talk about and debate. Certainly much more entertaining than complaining about technical fouls or discussing whether or not Woodbury will ever play up to his hype.

I agree from a seeding standpoint its relevant, and that its fun to talk about and debate. My logic is whether or not we win the conference this year, if we continue to win games we're dancing and the RPI will reflect the seeding aspect vs. whether we're on the outside looking in.

Like you said though as far as conference play is concerned the RPI is minimal and we simply need to root for the teams in front of us and along side us to continue to lose and hope for some upsets along the way. We're more than likely going to lose a game or two along the way that we shouldn't, but wouldn't it be great if we had a little padding to suffer that loss and not find ourselves dropping out of the mix.

You always hope your top competitors lose especially on the road, the top dawgs are going to win most at home but you want them to stumble on the road and not steal a win
