Wisconsin -3

Did you watch Hornybrook? He is VERY average and not all that mobile. They have no speed on the outside. They have a really good running back. So did Iowa State.
They have no downfield passing game either.
Could be a 3-0 game.
Will be a tough game but Wisconsin is not some dominant powerhouse coming in. It will be like most Iowa games (close) Break here and there and Iowa could win.

Wisky also has an offensive line, which may help.
Maybe this is Kirk's Michigan or OSU of 2018. But unless our offense can get down the field I'm worried this one won't be that close

I am legitimately nervous about our placekicker. Being that this game could easily come down to a last second FG, or battle of field goals.

Anyone know exactly what happened with the block last night? I had people over and was trying to tend to the grill over halftime. Was it the snap, the hold, or Miguel?

Whatever it was, he needs to bring his A game Saturday. There's a good chance we will need him late.
Welcome to being a Vikings fan.

Since Gary Anderson missed the NFC Championship-winner in 1999 through Blair Walsh and Daniel Carlson I go into every single FG and PAT attempt with the expectation of missing. No joke. That way I can only be pleasantly surprised and never upset.

Right, which is why I'm confused that it seems that a UNI player was allowed to do it.
Well if the rule is you can’t run toward the line .... I think he just jumped over the Iowa line from his start position — but that’s just recollection without a replay. I was impressed at the play he made

Was that the year where Anderson was like 30 for 30 during the season and playoffs and his only miss was the one in the championship game?

He was 35/35 FG and 59/59 PAT. First kicker to ever do that and only 2 others have ever done it since.

This line is interesting to me for a lot of reasons. BYU ran a lot of motion plays and jet sweeps vs Wisconsin...stuff Iowa doesn't do a whole lot of. BYU also scored on a trick play, something Iowa rarely does on offense. So although BYU held their own physically vs Wisconsin, the Badgers aren't going to be fooled by anything Iowa's offense has to offer.

I'm not sure you could set the under low enough that I wouldnt take it.

Completely disagree. I think because of the BYU loss way too many of you are taking them way too lightly. Thankfully KF won't. BYU didn't do anything to Wisconsin that they wouldn't have done to Iowa.

People seem to forget this is a program that has dominated Iowa over the last decade. If they win Saturday, that will be 5 in a row at Kinnick. Has any B1G program done that outside of Ohio St during the HF/KF era?

Back in 2016, they barely survived a game against FCS Georgia State in the non-conference season and went on to sweep the West.

I believe Iowa has scored 1 offensive TD against them in 3 games. And they'll be by far the best defense Iowa has played this year.

The wisky defense had to replace 7 starters from last year and a few of the ones that did return are out injured. Saying they are the best defense we have faced yet this year is not really going out on a limb, and I would argue that ISU's defense is just as solid. This year's Wisky defense does not scare me much at all. I'm not saying it won't be a tough game, I'm not saying Iowa will win, but this Wisconsin team is no where and I mean no where near the team it was last year. Being at home and at night I would give Iowa the edge. I could be completely wrong and that's why I said we will see Saturday night. I hope for my sake I am right since my wife and I are traveling from KC to watch the game. I'm just not over impressed with the Badgers.

I tend to be a "you're only as good as your last game" guy. If Wiscy is better than they showed they were last week we're going to find out. Nothing against BYU, but they aren't exactly world beaters on the road and managed to come out of Madison with a win. Both teams better be mentally checked in and ready to play on Saturday. The better team on Saturday is going to win.

There's maybe one QB alive who could have maybe won that game last year and that's Cam Newton. Even Tom Brady would have been eaten alive. The offensive line was bad in that game last year and it wasn't Stanley's fault that he can't throw the ball with a guy hanging off his legs and two hands right in front of his face 7 tenths of a second after the snap.
Oh I'm not blaming him and only him for last yr by any means Oline not playing up to snuff is where it starts. We have to be able to run it and give him time to set his feet no doubt about it. So far pass protection has been solid this year. Like really pleasantly surprisingly solid. The few times he's gotten hit he held on to it too long I thought and should have gotten rid of it one way or the other. Granted we've yet to be really challenged in that department too much (some thought NIUs stud DE Sutton would be but he sure didn't seem like it) If our Oline pass protects like it has so far I really really like our chances

I can't wait for AJE to be up in Hornibrooks grill all game. You think Stanley doesn't want to atone for how last yrs game went? Folks it's going to be on and there's blood in the water now. Wisky should be shaking in their over rated boots.

Now this is the right attitude....

Would like see nothing more than for Iowa to put a fifty burger on Wisky ala Ohio St. ‘17! The increased crowd noise from the north endzone will be the difference maker! Kinnick will be rockin’, at night, and Wisky is gonna shit in their blanket. As any businessman will tell you about success. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! This also brings to mind the 5 W’s of journalism; WHO; Iowa Hawkeyes, WHAT; Iowa Victory, WHERE; Kinnick at night, WHEN; Sat. Sept. 22 7:30 pm, and WHY; Because we want it more!

Looks like Carlson has been shit canned. The Vikings understood the importance of winning that game. It could be the difference between a first round playoff bye and having to play the first round at New Orleans or Atlanta or somewhere like that.

It looks like Wisky has had about as many issues as Iowa. Their new defensive front has been unable to generate much of a pass rush so far this year. Also, the defensive ends have had some issues setting the edge against opposing running game. Injuries have taken a toll at outside linebacker. I wonder if Iowa's tight ends will be able to exploit their weakness at outside linebacker. Lack of a pass rush has exposed their defensive backs, but Iowa's receivers might not be good enough to benefit.

The offensive line hasn't quite lived up to the hype. Pass protection hasn't really been where it should be. Run blocking has been good inside, but Wisconsin's outside running game isn't anything special. They have also been dinged up at tight end, which hasn't helped either the running or the passing game.

Hornibrook when under pressure, doesn't look much better than Stanley. It could be a matter of which quarterback holds it together better. Wisconsin's offensive line could get it together. Iowa's defensive line could say a big "nope" to that. Will Iowa's offensive line be able to capitalize on a weaker Wisconsin defensive front.

Geeze no doubt! Pretty bad as Viking fans we have had to practaly smoke a bowl and down jack just to make it through a field goal attempt! And I don't touch either but have thought it. Thank God for Bush light! F**king Anderson really started a viking legacy!

The Miller and Dace podcast leaves one with a gust of optimism that Iowa will beat Wisconsin this Saturday night.

I think the D will do fine. I still don't have enough confidence in Iowa's offense.

This could come down to one big play... Be it Fant or someone breaking a long run. I think 20 pts will win it. If Stanley can get us to that # ( I sure don't think that's asking too much) we are a tough tough team to beat

The thing about Iowa's offense is it always reverts back to the zone play. That is the background, the canvas if you will against everything else in the O. Some teams just have ongoing diversity in play calling with out this background base alloy.

With Iowa it seems that after 1 or 2 plays, they'll come right back to it. So it seems to me that as a defender you don't have to think too much.

Seems to me that if you're working with 2 and 3 star guys you're asking an awful lot for them to go out an out-execute top talent when your scheme is relatively predictable.

Somebody shoot holes in this - please - help me sleep better at night - help me stop intravenous drugs - help me stop snorting bath salts.
