Will Tim Brewster be Minnesota's head coach when Iowa plays them on November 27th?

Re: Will Tim Brewster be Minnesota's head coach when Iowa plays them on November 27th

I dont think they will make a change midseason. It wont help them just bring how much they suck into the spotlight.

Re: Will Tim Brewster be Minnesota's head coach when Iowa plays them on November 27th

Yes, he will still be there. Iowa may be his last game, but I don't see Minnesota firing him mid season. For that to happen, there would have to be some kind of misconduct taking place that the school found out about.

Re: Will Tim Brewster be Minnesota's head coach when Iowa plays them on November 27th

Yes, he will be. Then he'll be fired within 48 hours.

Re: Will Tim Brewster be Minnesota's head coach when Iowa plays them on November 27th

They won't make a midseason change. This isn't like baseball where you play 162 games a year. You only play 12 in college football. Firing him midseason probably doesn't change much.

Re: Will Tim Brewster be Minnesota's head coach when Iowa plays them on November 27th

I agree with most of you, Tim Brewsters last game with the Gophers will be against Iowa. Then he will be terminated.

Re: Will Tim Brewster be Minnesota's head coach when Iowa plays them on November 27th

The only thing Minnesota has going for it is basketball. I think they need to look at the whole dept.

He is gone.

Re: Will Tim Brewster be Minnesota's head coach when Iowa plays them on November 27th

It will be his last game.

Re: Will Tim Brewster be Minnesota's head coach when Iowa plays them on November 27th

Yes he will be coaching and probably next year too.

No way. His buyout is only 100K. There's some talk (I heard this from a big Goofer booster) that the current president who is retiring next year would like the next president to select a new coach and AD, but there is just no way they can sell Rodent football next season with Punky at the helm. They need butts in the seats of their sparkly new stadium.

IOWA will rudely escort Punky from his job this November.

Re: Will Tim Brewster be Minnesota's head coach when Iowa plays them on November 27th

I have a feeling there will be a full house for their final game this year.

Re: Will Tim Brewster be Minnesota's head coach when Iowa plays them on November 27th

Unlikely.

Unless things get REALLY bad, I don't see him getting fired midway. Plus, you have to remember that both the University President and the Athletic Director are retiring at the end of the school year, so it's not certain you'd make a change before a new AD steps in.

EDIT:
I know that President Bruinicks will be retiring in 2011, but not sure about Maturi, actually.

Two words: Tony Dungy. UM alum, former Gopher player. Worth making a mid-season change for, if he'd do it. Firing him mid-season would give them a jump on the hiring process, and its not like an interim coach could do any worse. Sends a strong and positive message to the fans and alumni as well.

They don't make a change mid-season in college f-ball, this is not MLB. He be canned the Monday after the Iowa-Minnesota game after Minny loses 51-0.

Maybe Knute Rockney can come back and Coach at Minny......... Tony Dungy, that's funny :) I'm sure he's ready to leave his multi-million TV contract to go Coach the "Goofers".

You can go back to smoking your crack!

Goof-offs sent Smokey Joe Salem packing 30 years ago by telling him Iowa was his last game. He quickly left Kinnick after a blowout loss and was not heard from again. Same deal with Brewster.

Minnesota fans are already arguing amongst themselves ... should they boycott games as a show of unity to end Punky's misery, or use their tickets so the last game isn't completely black and gold?

Spectacular delusion:
Now that the message is "out" it is time to insure that the Gopher Fans who have purchased tickets show up for all of the home Big Ten games.

This is ESPECIALLY true about the iowa game. Do NOT let any more than the minimum number of iowa fans into the game. Most likely, they will be decent human beings and Big Ten Fans. But do NOT try to get a few bucks for your Gopher tickets at the risk of allowing the drunken hordes of iowa boorish dudes and dudettes into that game the way there were in the dome in 2008. I don't know if the gophers can beat iowa this season, but, I am certain that it won't be a 55-0 bashing with the classless ferentz throwing bombs into the endzone during the last few minutes of the fourth quarter trying to up the humiliating score. Keep iowa fans out of our stadium. Show up. Use your ticket as a Gopher Fan. The Big Ten record will tell us all we need to know about the administration, the athletic director and the football coach. Let's hope for for as many Big Ten wins as possible. I do believe the Gophers are going to win some Big Ten games in 2010. They NEED to! It is our job as fans to keep iowa fans OUT of the stadium.

Some Brewsterisms from his Tuesday presser:

"I believe, with all my heart, that we could and should be 4-0, so it’s greatly disappointing to be 1-3."

"When you begin the season 1-3 there’s disappointment from the football team and coaches, you look at it closely and Minnesota could be 4-0. In the 3 losses, we, as much as the opponent, determined the outcome."

"We had opportunities to win each game. We could be sitting here and being excited about being 4-0. The reality is that we’re a 1-3 team, it’s very disappointing to me and our football team."

"The most important record is that we’re 0-0 in the Big Ten. We have a chance to play a homecoming game against Northwestern and begin 1-0."

"We’re number #2 in the country in time of possession on offense, we’d done some nice things there."

"Our mental status of our team is excellent, they’re going to follow my lead."

To answer the question, he's toast....at the end of the season. The question that remains is if Maturi, the AD who so badly blew it when he fired Mason and hired Brewster, will be able to hang on to his job. It is in the HAWKS' best interest that he stay.

Re: Will Tim Brewster be Minnesota's head coach when Iowa plays them on November 27th

yes, only because they'll have to pay him less by firing him at the end of the year. this season is a lost cause anyway

No. I firmly believe that the Gophers will win their remaining 8 games, and win the Big 10 outright. They will then defeat Oregon 32-20 in the Rose Bowl.
