Will The Football Program...

we were also 4-5 in conf. In 6 of those games, our offense scored only 3 times, then add the offensive shutout to WUs. we lost at home to PU. Not sure what you'd call it, but it ain't trending up. So 8 wins. Any team that can beat OSU by 30 at home, shouldn't lose to PU at home. That is how 8 wins isn't a good season. But, just as long as it's 8 wins.

Having a 4-5 record in the conference, a weak conference at that isn't what I would call trending up. Never an excuse to be .500 or below in the conference we play in, never.

Just signed our highest rated recruiting class in 7 years. I wouldn't say that's a bad thing. We did lose some big time players and have a very small senior class, so it may tick down a bit this year, but the future should be good with all of the good young players we have..

Trending more of the same. Lose to at least one double-digit dog and beat the living hell out of a team like tOSU.
As long as a Ferentz has their hands at controlling Iowa Football that is what it is. Six wins the floor, twelve wins the ceiling just as before.

Dominique Douglas is the answer to the question why does Iowa have a hard time finding talented wide recievers.

Kirk will never take a chance on a guy with bad character ever again. No more criminals.

I know some recruits have border-line character issues regarding their work ethic, and the coaches have to make a judgement call and sometimes they are wrong, like when they didn't take David Johnson. But sometimes it works out, like when they took Akrum Wadley, who just needed to grow up and put in the work. But those guys are not criminals.

Well, the Purdue and Northwestern games were really bad. But when our crossover games are PSU in an up year, @MSU and OSU and Wisconsin has a decent team, most years that will translate into 3, if not 4 losses right off the bat just due to the schedule, so you can't really make a blanket statement about 4-5 in our conference. Ferentz almost always has problems with Northwestern and you can count on him to usually lose at least one inexplicable game per year and this year that was Purdue. Based on the final standings, we played the #5, 7, 8, 15 and 17 teams in the country and we lost all but one of those games. That's football, pal.

We've flat lined
Your either getting better or worse in sports. It'll be interesting to see how the offense starts off next yr to me. If Stanley can get a go to receiver at all (Brandon Smith I'm looking at you) to compliment what Smith Marsette and Easley do well they'll be able to move the ball more consistently. I know we lost a couple good Olineman but surely they'll be alright there. They lost both starting tackles last yr pretty early on and did alright with freshman at those spots so surely they'll be better then they were last yr.
DLine will be monsters so how the LBs and DBs do will dictate how that group does. I'm leaning way more towards the positive way of looking at it then negative. But it's Feb....ha

There is a lot of discussion out there pointing to Iowa's recruiting classes in 2017 and 2018 as being packed with some really good potential. With the re-settling of the coaching staff, even with the usual graduation/leaving early that is just plain ol' college football these days, I think we will trend up in 2018, and hopefully, beyond.

So all talented receivers are potential thugs or lawbreakers?

We have won 28 games over the last 3 years. Here are the only P5 teams with more wins over the last 3 years:

Clemson 40
Bama
OSU 35
Oklahoma 34
Wisconsin 34
Oklahoma St. 30
Georgia 31
Stanford 30
Washington 29
Penn St. 29
USC 29

Michigan and TCU are tied with Iowa with 28 wins over the last 3 years.

So we are tied for 12th most wins of all P5 teams over the last 3 years, but we are trending downward. This is the kind of stupid that keeps me away from the site now a days.
