Will Scott Haughton consider a transfer to Iowa now?

Just a thought. The guy would be a "huge" transfer to get. Would he or Iowa consider this? Your thoughts? I wouldn't mind picking him up.

He's a beast, but I dont see him as the type of player that Iowa recruits for the OL. He's not exactly cut from stone, but he can move it all of it pretty well. He even caught a TD last year. But if it was grades or something worse, I dont see Iowa taking a chance with a scholly. I bet he goes somewhere back home in Florida with lower academic requirements or whatever.

Iowa got burned the last time they recruited a player with "questionable" character (Douglas), there's no way they go down that road again. Being kicked off a team and out of school definitely brings your character into question.

I say no

Satan will be making snow angels before Captain Kirk allows this guy within 100 miles of our football program.

Iowa wouldn't go after Haughton for the simple reason that he doesn't fit our sort of blocking scheme. Everything that's come out about the young man suggests that he doesn't have character issues ... the bigger issue for him seems to be academics.

If I recall, Douglas didn't have questionable character until he got to Iowa. Didn't he have a paper he wrote published by the Detroit Free Press, and win some award from the NFL for his writing? Seems like he was a good student who kept his nose clean in h.s. I could be wrong...

You never know. Albert Young explicitly stated that sometimes you just can't get a read on the recruits. He said that a number of the guys acted one way, saying and doing all the right things during their recruitment ... however, they ended up acting quite another way once they hit campus. Thus, that's not to say that attitude issues already exist for some guys ... however, some guys simply hide them better than others.

Hopefully the kid gets it figured out. I think he is a fair student. He just quit going to class at the end. He wasn't in any legal trouble. I commend Rhoads for the way he handled the situation. If the kid had put forth the effort and didn't pass he would still be at ISU. When he put in no effort to pass Rhoads showed him the door.

Homer i think tmurph was trying to make the point, that we did not know that things were going to turn out the way they did. I for one am very disappointed by the way the whole 2006 class played out. 1. I had classes with a lot of them and 2 I felt that this may have been the best group of skill players we recruited in a while having Douglas, Chaney, DJK, Bowman, Nelson, and Cleveland.

Yeah. I thought that was what tmurph may have been getting at ... it just that the intended meaning wasn't completely clear. LOL ... that's not to say that what I wrote was crystal clear either though!

Anyhow, I share your sentiment. The upside of the '06 skill guys really had me exceptionally excited too. Prior to the feces hitting the fan ... I was spouting off how the Iowa WR corps had the potential to be crazily good and deep. It was remarkable to contemplate what Douglas and Cleveland could have brought to the table ... and it's crazy to think that guys like Bowman and DJK could have gotten relegated to being 2nd stringers ... albeit 2nd stringers capable of being impact play-makers.

There was definitely a reason why there was so much buzz surrounding our O at the time ... largely due to the fact that we were using a lot of 4 and 5 WR sets. And to think that some folks don't give our coaching staff credit for adjusting our O to the personnel that we have .....
