Will Olaseni be dropped from the rotation?

Seems like with the rotation we have now Gabe is the next man out. I also don't think Fran has played him in the second half of any of our games. So do you think Gabe will ultimately be cut from the rotation or does he still have a role to play, especially against bigger teams?

There will be nights where Gabe will see more time. Unfortunately, the biggest weakness to his overall game is on the offensive side of the ball and with the kind of hole that was dug in that first half they needed to put as many scorers as possible on the floor. I'd say that was also the reason why Fran kept Josh on the floor remaining confident his shot would eventually start to drop. I can't say if it will hold up all season but from what I have observed so far, everyone seems to be buying into the "minutes don't matter as long as we win philosophy" which speaks volumes about the coaching staff as well. If you don't believe me just check out a few of the bench pics I got during the second half rally here: IowaSportsPictures

You honestly think he will just be cut from the lineup? After 4 games? The guy has had barely any playing time over his time at Iowa. There is no "next man out" as you put it. He will be fine as he settles in as the year progresses. Fran wants to go with 10 guys. Olesani will be one of them and I think already has impacted the games he has played in. No one will be dropped from the rotation.

Gabe will get plenty of PT

Dude, step back from the ledge.

I think it is a valid question. This team seems to have a serious problem scoring right now, so they probably won't be playing a guy who can't score.

nobodies shooting that great maybe they should just bench everybody, escpecially Josh, as he is shooting just 4-18 for 22.2 %, as for Gabe he is avg 8.8 mpg 3.5 rpg 1 bpg and 1 ppg and has 35 minutes in 4 games after getting 90 minutes in 18 games last year, he will continue to play.
as the season goes on the teams will have bigger interior players

Gabe won't be dropped from the rotation. Once Iowa starts playing some bigger teams he'll start getting more action. These first few teams have been pretty small lineups.

and that's why Gabe will play, he is still valuable on defense. escpecially rebounding and having a affect on shots.

Hold on a minute!! Why did redhawk55 just respond to a post addressed to someone called "Herby"???

Be polite, redhawk55. Let's allow this Herby fellow answer for himself. Herby? Herrrrbyyyy?

When GO has a good game and is played in favor of another player for that game, will you suggest that that player be dropped from the rotation?

Except for White, Marble, and Gesell, there will be times when every other player in the rotation won't see many minutes for a particular game. That's what depth is. Why sabotage it?

I don't think he or I are saying we WANT GO to be dropped but just wondering if it could happen given Fran is usually a short bench guy and I still think this year we won't necessarily play 10 every game. But hey I could be wrong, and if we find a way to make it work, that depth could be awesome.

My next question would be for next year as we've all heard good things about Uthoff and Jok but we will return 9 from our 10 man rotation and Ingram and Meyer will have a year to develop. You'd think that there will be some guys from this years rotation that could be sat in favor of Uthoff and JOk?

This year, we're already seeing guys that did a good job last year have their minutes reduced because of increased talent level. Next year that trend will continue. That's a good thing.

As far as GO, as recently as 2 weeks ago many posters felt he should start ahead of Woody. Ghost made comments that seemed to indicate he felt this way as well.

Fran has repeatedly stated he is going with a 10-11 man rotation based on needs, no reason to stop doubting him now
also at Seinna he did not have the depth to go this deep
