Will Iowa's spring game be shown on the Big Ten Network?

Maybe someone can enlighten me. I didn't expect the Iowa spring game to be shown live but the guide on my cable station doesn't show the spring game being shown at all. I can only go forward one week but it looked to me that the other teams appeared to show their games soon after they played. Is this Big Ten bias or am I off base? Any input would be very much apprciated. Tia.

I don't know if it's bias or not, but I'm sure Ohio State will figure out a way to win the Iowa Spring Game.

BTN2GO is having technical difficulties and will be unable to air the scrimmage. The Buckeye Television Network strikes again

So Iowa gets no ****in night games and it's probably the only school in the Big Ten to not have it's spring game aired on television. What a ****in crock of ****. ****in BTN

I know damn well it doesn't mean anything, but I sent them a nice little email sharing how I feel.

It was scheduled to be on BTN2GO, but as previously mentioned, due to technical difficulties it will not be aired. Iowa doesn't even do a real game, there is little tv draw associated with it. I don't blame BTN for airing MSU's game over ours.

Iowa has as much if a spring game as anyone else now. They still scrimmage. Plus BTN has multiple feeds and I pay extra for it to be included in my cable package in order to watch my favorite team. The fact they don't include Iowa is complete BS.

We should petition someone to use union painters for the water tower project. That would get them here.
Or we could take a lesson from Cy, and start our own network.
*sigh* I wish I could watch it too. After all, it would be my only time tuning in between the last Hawks hoop game and football season. I guess I'll just rely on pictures and threads/articles.
Go Hawks

The BTN is sending off some weird vibes lately. Not really sure what more they could do to keep Iowa off of their network. The “technical difficulties" just seem so odd, considering the amount of events they broadcast every single day, and the way they handled it. The absence of primetime games for the west teams was even more strange. Could this be part of a bigger plan to maximize exposure of the eastern schools?

Nebby is getting plenty of love. Wisky, Iowa, NW, and minny are definitely flying under the radar so far; and all of the west teams (with maybe the exception of Nebby) are living in the East's shadow.

I do think, however, it can be by a slight design; OSU and MSU both had great success last year, and will likely get plenty of pub this year from a national standpoint. Not to mention the desire to appeal to the east coast.

Long story short... As long as we win, we'll generate the buzz/attention.

Go Hawks!

Ps. Sorry to derail the original thread.

Even before the "technical difficulties" no replay was scheduled to air on BTN in the near future. Also, had the problem been internet related, the video should've been uploaded to watch on btn.com by now. Maybe they forgot to bring a camera crew ;)

Amen. I was able to attend it but I wanted to DVR it too. I coulda cared less if they didn't air it live but to not have any coverage to air it at another time is beyond BS. What other schools are they not showing? I know I've seen OSU Michigan MSU Wisconsin at nauesium being played. But theres no excuse. Iowa is closer to Chicago where the BTN is based more so then over half the league. The weather was perfect so no excuse there. You miss so much being at the game and I wanted to see replays and hear whatever the commentators would have had to say. I'm pretty sure whatever the reason why they'll give wouldn't fly not only with the die hards like us but with the common sense it would make to air it. Showing womens softball and some of the other stuff they've been showing is good I have no problem with that. But lets get real. Football is what drives the bus there and we can't get enough of it.

Totally agree. There is no excuse that they can give that would make any sense to me. It's complete and total BS that they frequently gloss over Iowa. Goes to show you the only thing they care about is dollar signs. They focus on pleasing their bigger markets, and if they are going to screw a team they pick Iowa because it's Iowa. You would think the goal of a conference represented TV network would be to represent every team in their conference. Apparently these guys don't give a rip because they know they have you no matter what. I'm not going to cancel my BTN channel because then I won't be able to record the games. It's BS and it really ticks me off. Let's just say my email to their network got the point across :)

In a word, Yup.

The fact it's about the money is what makes this make less sense to me. Iowas spring game weather televised live or not would bring higher ratings then anything else they'd show between baseball softball etc. But I'm right there with ya. It's not like there's a BTN competitor to switch to... We can email and cry to them about it but it'll fall on deaf ears... I'll be interested if you get a reply.

Oh I'm sure my email accomplished nothing more than a convenient opportunity to vent after I sat down on my couch to watch the game at 2:00 and found out they were magically having technical difficulties. Based on the tone of my email I would be quite shocked if they respond.

I agree with you about the money situation though. I'm sure it would bring in higher ratings than some of their alternative choices. I just can't figure out any other way to explain it though. I mean they show other teams spring games including teams that I would imagine have fewer ratings than Iowa (Indiana, Northwestern, Purdue). Maybe it's because I'm biased and I don't pay attention to the other teams, but it sure seems like they consistently give Iowa fans the shaft when it comes to programming choices.

I've had it with BsTN. It is time already for an Iowa sports network if they are not going to cover Iowa. Even if they did have some problems with the live broadcast they should at least have shown a replay. The msu dirtbags were on 3 times for goodness sakes. If they won't cover Iowa something has to be done!
