Will Iowa get the calls when Izzo comes to town?

Hopefully we are shooting a bit better for that game as we all know how physical MSU gets and Izzo working the refs. Sure would be nice to get over the hump with them.

Huge game on Thursday. Will say alot and have an effect on the rest of the reason. Uthoff Oges and Jok need to bring it if we wanna win. If we win then we've already beat last year's resume. MSU just beat Indy by 20.

Nope, they will let Harris take 4 steps, they will ignore that punk Trice with his constant hand checking, they will ignore all those fat msu post players hack all game long. I can't remember their names, but they are hacks for sure. Iowa is going to have to completely dominate them to put it out of the range where the refs can hand the game to msu. What they did in Frans first year is what they have to do again.

This. Iowa will need to be at least 10 points better than MSU in order to overcome what certainly will be lopsided officiating. Any truth to the rumor the ref crew will be wearing green and white stripes Thursday night?

Izzo is the only ref I know who can grab an official by the arm from behind, spin him around, and not get T'd up. Instead, the official just stands there and lets himself get lectured. It is disgusting.

And I don't want to hear "he earned the right to do this because of his success." BS. If Fran can get a T for looking sideways at a ref, Izzo should be T'd for putting his hands on one. Not to mention wandering all over the court. The rules apply to everyone.

Officiating is not really a big concern for this game. I'll start with scoring from guard court.

Paging Jok, Gesell, Ogs, Clemmons.........we need something from you. A little offensive production would be helpful.

That's right Tom Izzo should have got called for walking to the center court area. He did it during the same game that Fran got called for it. That was complete bias. Iowa will have to outplay them by more than 10 points to overcome the refs.

I can't stand the fact that Izzo is able to work the officials more than other coaches and get the majority of the calls (especially at home). But, this shouldn't be as big of a problem in Iowa City (as long as TV Teddy isn't there).

Iowa needs to hit some 3's to win. Have to get some scoring from the guards. Can't blame officials, have to step up and make plays.

You have to limit them in transition and keep Dawson and Valentine off the offensive glass. If you do those things, I don't think they are good enough shooting the ball from the outside to beat you and they don't have a true post up player. Ask Maryland...this is the recipe they used.

The missed travel call last year was at home during a very close game. So I would not count on the refs not being biased. Iowa outplayed them by 5-10 points on the court with the refs making up the difference. Iowa has to outplay them by more than 10 points this year, to be safe make it 20.

You tell me

That was one of the most ridiculous missed calls I've ever seen! To make it worse Fran got called for a T for walking out of the coaching box to complain about it. And to further show the bias was that Izzo did the same thing later that game and it was not called.

The over and back missed call was horrible too. How do you miss a cross court bounce pass where the ball hits the other side of the court?

Right. What happened with Fran last year at Wisconsin, sure, he deserved to get T'd up and tossed, even the 1 game suspension I can live with. I don't have a problem with any of that.

What I DO have a MAJOR problem with, is Izzo doing practically the same thing in a game, the same week IIRC, and not even being T'd up.

No one can tell me there is no bias with Big Ten officiating.
