Will Bob Sanders play again in the NFL?

Does anyone have any insight on whether Bob Sanders will be healthy enough to return to full strength this fall?

Would absolutely love to watch the Colts with Angerer and Sanders on D and Clark dominating on offense with Captain Manning.

It looks like his body might have finally given out.. But it would be awesome to see all those hawks playing together.

I haven't seen anything that the Colts or Bob were giving up. I think he'll give it another shot if he has a another big injury that would almost surely be the end of his career.

Per this article from today Sanders will be back:

Should the Colts end up shooting blanks in this year's draft, which is quite unlikely considering the impressive track record of the team's personnel staff under the direction of team president Bill Polian, they still figure to be on another fast track to a successful season.

Just ask team owner Jim Irsay.

"Getting (SS Bob) Sanders and (WR Anthony) Gonzalez back is like getting two No. 1s," Irsay said at the league owners' meetings in late March. "Along with those two … our star players are still in their prime."

While daily team observers never can be totally sure considering the veil of secrecy the Colts routinely maintain on the subject of injuries. all indications do indeed point to both Sanders and Gonzalez being completely healthy when training camp opens.

That's particularly good news in the case of Sanders, a two-time Pro Bowler and former league defensive MVP who has missed a whopping 24 games the past two seasons with injuries caused in part, many close to the team believe, by his reckless, lights-out playing styleNot counting Sanders, who was limited to two games last season because of knee problems and a ruptured biceps tendon, and Gonzalez, who went down for the season in Week One with a freak knee injury on a play in which he was untouched, all but one of the players who started in Super Bowl XLIV (OLG Ryan Lilja) are expected back.

I heard he is 1 1/2 inches shorter than when he was drafted. Apparently it is not uncommon for NFL players to lose 2 inches in their career from all the hits. No source, but that's a pretty incredible thing.

To the height statement above, It would not surprise me in the least bit, your height varies even throughout the course of the day. This is due to the compression of the discs in your spinal cord. All athletes have this more so than the general population due to the increased impact on their spine (high impact training is the main culprit).

On another interesting note, measure yourself the moment you wake up, do some high impact activity (run 2 mi on asphalt) and then measure your height again before going to sleep at night, you will have shrunk in the course of the day, then when you awake in the morning you should come back to the measurement 24hr ago, due to the discs regaining their form, but for Football Players the repetitive trauma will cause even greater loss of height.
