low population state that might produce 4 maybe 5 Top DI talented FB players per year
that fire a coach after 13 years in Which he led Iowa to 11 win seasons, 2 10 win seasons 1 9 win season 1 8 win season 1 7 win seasons and 1 losing season and 1 .500 season
4 top 10 rankings 3-1 against SEC teams 6-4 over all,
just why would he want to coach at a school where that was not good enough?

the next coach WON'T GET a salary like that. and its not because the University can't afford it.
KF has earned it with those records.

True, but they also will know that all they need to do to get up to that salary is win 8 games every 4 years or so and win the Alamo Bowl a couple of times.

There are plenty of guys who would love a shot at a Big 10 gig. If you're in the coaching business nowadays you probably understand you're going to be fired at one point. It's just the nature of the beast.

I bet that the fear of coaches not wanting to come here due to having to fire a long tenured coach does not worry Gary Barta. If that scares a coach away, so be it. We want a coach willing to accept a challenge and dig in and get the job done.

Of course... Ferentz isn't going anywhere but it's not due to the fact that he is afraid to scare away any new canidates.

With a salary like KFs, who wouldnt want to come to Iowa.

Coaches would move to Alaska to make half of what KF brings home, and I guarantee we could find a coach to beat Central Michigan, Minnesota, & Indiana for half of what KF makes.

Iowa fired KF after last season?! Finally, we have the explanation for the product on the field.

See, this is what is wrong. It is what is wrong with the program and the fans. At K-State the question is not why, it's why not.
National title.... Why not
Win B10...... Why not
Next 1st round draft pick..... Why not
A coach who strives for these things..... Why not

$4,000,000.

As if KF is about to be fired, anyway. His job is safe.

Or maybe a coach would prefer a job at a place where the fan base has exactly zero expectations. Some football powerhouse like Indiana, or Kansas.

When writing numbers below ten is is customary to spell them out rather than just typing the number.

Actuallywhat ever you use first, numerical or writen, you stay with through out your writing. Also if you have numbers bigger than 10 all should be in number form to prevent you from going back and forth from numerals to word numbers

I am truly starting to believe that people use their alts to start threads like this just to rile peeps up. No way any sane person could start this thread and believe what they're putting down.

Look around on gameday in Iowa City, the support is incredible for .500 football, just imagine what it would be like for a consistent upper echelon team. Its in the Big 10. There are coaches who would love to take this on.

Yep. It would be rabid. Absolutely rabid. But therein also lies a good chunk of the reason for why I don't think KF is going anywhere any time soon. The seats are still full.

That said, it provides pretty good ammo to use against those who want to say that Iowa has crappy fans.
