why would any coach want to come here

What have the Hawks done other than underachieve for 4 of the past 5 years? If going 7-5 on average when you play an extremely weak out of conference schedule every year and get you a raise and extended for 10 yrs, who WOULDNT want to coach here? Major programs fire coaches for being average for 5 straight years with the program going in reverse, so a lot of people would love to coach in the Big 10 with the facilities and job security provided.

Top dollar for a coach, top facilities, sold out stadiums, Historic conference...

Yeah why would any coach want to come here.

2008 9-4 win over SEC South Carolina
2009 11-2 BCS WIN over ACC champion GT
2010 8-5 win over B12 Missouri
2011 7-6 lost to B12 Oklahoma
thats closer to 9 wins per season with 35 wins to just 17 wins
Ijust like it when people like to shall we say over state the situation "to be nice" because the word Ihave in mind is not nice.
playing in 2 BCS games
plating against the likes of Florida twice, LSU the year after LSU won the NT, TX in that Alamo bowl game
people didn't seem to mind Hayden in the Alamo bowl, oh wait that was different its not KF..

Lol @ the idea that 2010 and 2011 were good seasons.

2010 might have been the biggest letdown in Iowa football history.

2011 team lost to a lot of bad teams.

here's your bads teams;
MSU
PSU
ISU
Nebraska
Oklahoma
Minnesota
the only bad loss was Minnesota
this is another reason why many coaches will want nothing to do with this job
overbloated expectation to expect Iowa to just walk over the teams is out there in LaLA land

Hey Red! I got the cure for the mange. You interested?

It's not just the losses, it is the manner in which we lose...many times it has come down to some really bad coaching, to be brutally honest. Those 2011 losses you mention:

MSU - We weren't even competitive.
PSU - Final score was closer than the game...terrible gameplan. 1 pass over 15 yards or something like that?
ISU - Honestly that game shouldn't have been close...they missed a couple field goals and had 2 or 3 red zone turnovers.
Nebraska - We were not competitive.
Oklahoma - We were competitive for a half or so...
Minnesota - Ugh...

So while there might not be too many bad teams in that group, there are some pretty bad losses.

Two bad losses - minnesota and ISU (I still believe ISU is a team we should beat 75% of the time)

and a bunch of non competitive games

The fact that you want to say 2011 was a good year is pretty delusional

Herby, you're trying to stoke flames that are never going to grow.

Iowa is a desirable destination for many reasons, primarily because we have a low media scrutiny, huge alumni base, deep pockets, great facilities, and a coaching tree the size of a sequoia.

I know you're angry that people want KF fired, but arguing that no other coach will come here if we do pull the trigger....that dog don't hunt.

This board may have higher expectations, but the larger mass of Hawk fans does not, unfortunately. Fan expectations aren't going to keep any coach away from here, Herbster.

When calling out another poster's grammar, it is customary not to type a word twice while correcting them.

Sorry couldn't resist.

How big of a Dbag does a person have to be to call out another poster for grammar errors dealing with numbers? Get. A. Life.

Mn. We should beat
ISU. We should beat
Both those with what we have and pay compared to them, they should not even be in the same class.
Psu. Is not better then Iowa and they had a ton of "stuff" going on.b
Nebby. Had a shot putting half back for a qb. People talk about MAKING a team one dimensional, they were already that way. So we should have been able to run with a glorified HS team.

So two losses in MN and ISU we should not lose and lets just day we split Nebby and PSU. I think everyone would have been ok with that.

^ Unfortunately that shot putter has become three times the QB that we have. Maybe it helps that he doesn't seem to have too much going on upstairs and isn't overthinking it.

Hesitate to feed the troll from the OP, but please see above as it is spot on. Plus I will add BTN money, self sufficient athletic dept., lower fan expectations than most places, nicer media, lower cost of living than most places...
