A lot has been made about the fact that the Cubs haven't won a World Series in something like a century. But Cub fans, rejoice, because the Cubs and Sox used to play in the City Series after the season was over. The Cubs won that series in a 7 game nailbiter back in 1928. Now sure, it might not have been the World Series, but the Cubs used that as a springboard for a stellar 1929 season and learned how to close out a close 7 game series. So when some Cardinal fan brings up some useless stat like it has been a hundred some years bince the Cubs last won a World Series, you point them to this. The City Series, just like the NIT, was an important post-season playoff and it shouldn't be diminished in any way.
