Why the constant Rudock loving?

So are you saying Russell Wilson was a quitter at NC State? REally? Wilson going to wisky was a great move for him. not comparing rudock to wilson skill and athletically but jake had the opportunity.

Personally, I dont think Jake has much NFL hopes unless he really showed improvement last year with his arm strength and ball speed. So I really expected him to suck it up and finish as a hawk, and we could maybe use him now.

Yes Wilson absolutely quit on his team. It worked out great for him, but he quit on his team.

JR didn't have to leave. He could have stayed and continued to play with the teammates he spent the previous 4 years working with. Your analogy doesn't quite ring true. A season ending is not equal to knowing you just got demoted and deciding your allegiance to the team isn't as great as is your desire to be a starter.

<<JR didn't have to leave>>

I love these comments and the general strain of "He owed it to Iowa to stay for depth" mentality.

We have NO idea whether he was told he would EVER get a chance to win back the starting job. We have NO idea if GD all but said, "You're not my type".

I don't particularly like the transfer rule, but how anyone can say this didn't work out the very best for all involved is mind-numbing.

And of course, those bring Willies into it are a scream. He quit, plain and simple. There was no debate about that. KF/staff didn't OWE him the opportunity to come back. They didn't OWE Rudock a chance to win his job back.

Both left. Both appear happy. We are undefeated. But, alas, only on HawkeyeNation can you find folks that aren't made happy by being undefeated.

Nine months ago, hardly anyone outside the program even wanted Rudock on the team this season. But once he left, it turned into a Rudock bash-fest because he quit.

Thus illustrating the no-win situation he was in. And Rudock was/is more than smart enough to realize that.

<<And Rudock was/is more than smart enough to realize that>>

Funny how CJB's dad does an interview...and nobody mentions the tone of that interview. But Jake Rudock "owes" it to the fans to stay in case CJB gets injured.

I swear, the mouth-breathing, jealousy, bitterness quotient on this board goes UP with each successive win.

He could competently be starting at QB to allow CJ to heal. Rudock is a traitor.

To answer the thread's question, lots of Michigan fans think Rudock is great.

<<He could be competently starting at QB to allow CJ to heal>>

Yeah, and I'm sure everyone would be full of gratitude, with zero cries for Wiegers.

Good God, do people even ATTEMPT to use logic or reason around here anymore?

In 2013, JR looked to be the answer coming off a 4-8 2012 season. In 2014, we regressed as a team and deficiencies in JR's game (that have continued at UM) were identified and we were able to see how they adversely affected the offense. The real and true angst was with Ferentz for not giving CJ the opportunity he publicly stated he would give, particularly when JR's deficiencies weren't being overcome. Most fans who wanted CJ to start realized that JR's talent is what it is and were appreciative of his commitment to Iowa and the team for 4 seasons.

That is a flat-out lie. People wanted him gone. What they did NOT want was for things to work out just as well for him as it did for Iowa.

You're confused Bob. People aren't saying he owed it to Iowa to stay. They're simply saying he quit. There is a difference. What's it called when someone leaves their job to move onto bigger and better things? It's called quitting your job.

Rudock probably knows he's not an NFL caliber quarterback. He was accepted to the Michigan medical school, one of the top med schools in the country. Ferentz wouldn't take the opportunity away from him, and perhaps football wasn't the only reason he left. It was smart for him to leave, and for a guy that will actually get an advanced degree and prestigious high paying career that's not football, I commend him. I don't see it as quitting on the team, just giving himself the best opportunity to succeed.

Jake got hurt Saturday against minny and his backup looked pretty good. So Jake might get replaced again! This time he can't quit and go somewhere else.

Kirk took his starting job away from him on a two deep with no competition. CJ and his family made Kirk make a choice, he chose CJ. Right choice but still pretty disrespectful to Jake. He had one year left and wanted to play.

Furthermore, had he stayed he would of had his supporters and there would of been drama. You think people wouldn't be calling for him to start since jnw considering CJs injury?

He did the right thing for him and us.

Convenient how everyone forgets this when this debate/thread comes up.

Read the posts. There are several intimating that he would be needed if CJB gets injured, including one saying he could be "competently" starting while CJB heals.

People leave jobs all the time. If your boss told you, "Hey, someone else is getting the corner office", would you be content with the move to the third-smallest cubicle?

We owe him a debt of gratitude on multiple levels.

Semantics. Yeah sure, if you want a literal interpretation of what quitting is.

You could add our coaches name to this statement also. However most of those fans aren't around anymore,Thank You.Go Hawks

first it's the "Rudock is a quitter" threads, then the apology threads, now back to Rudock again? Good night people this horse has been thoroughly beaten. Let it go

Better question, Why the constant hating on Rudock since he's long gone from the team? Do you hold this hatred towards everyone who's transferred. Do you post about Jewell Hampton or the Kenny kid or is it just Jake because he was here for 4 years and did more for the team than others did.

I believe hate is a pretty strong word. Some people says he quit some say he didn't. Just pure honest opinions. Nobody should hate him.

I've always been impressed by classy posts that take joy in someone getting injured...

Hawkeyebob62 if that is indeed the case than you need to find a post that said they took joy in someone getting hurt because by no means did I say anything like that. I never want to see anybody get hurt!
