Why the constant Rudock loving?

He sure didn't give a rip about the fans opinion in 2014, why would that have changed in 2015 if he'd won the job again?

Maybe because he helped lead the team to a surprising 8-4 season in 2013? Some fans weren't thrilled with his check down tendencies going into last season, but he was at or near Jake Christensen levels of hate by the end of last season. It would have only gotten worse if he'd won the job this year and the team went 7-5 (which is likely what would have happened with Rudock under center instead of CJB).

In other words: the fans' displeasure with Rudock was ridiculously increased at the end of last season when compared to the end of 2013.

I don't recall any "bash fest" when JR left. The fans were getting what they wanted, as in CJ as the starter. What I do recall is fans on message boards arguing who was right and was it correct to name CJ as the starter in January.

There was plenty of bashing going on when it was announced that he was transferring, and it still hasn't stopped.

He's still a hawk, we basically forced him out. Nothing against him, wish him well as long as we don't play him.
He could competently be starting at QB to allow CJ to heal. Rudock is a traitor.

To answer the thread's question, lots of Michigan fans think Rudock is great.

In 2013, JR looked to be the answer coming off a 4-8 2012 season. In 2014, we regressed as a team and deficiencies in JR's game (that have continued at UM) were identified and we were able to see how they adversely affected the offense. The real and true angst was with Ferentz for not giving CJ the opportunity he publicly stated he would give, particularly when JR's deficiencies weren't being overcome. Most fans who wanted CJ to start realized that JR's talent is what it is and were appreciative of his commitment to Iowa and the team for 4 seasons.

Exactly!

I was initially supportive of Jake when he transferred. I was surprised that KF let him go to another BIG school, but it didn't appear there would be any chance Iowa would have to compete against him.

Where Jake lost my support is when he was interviewed during Fall Camp at Michigan. He made a comment that he wasn't afraid of some competition at the QB position.

Got me to thinking.... at Michigan he isn't afraid of some competition, but at Iowa he feels he needs to transfer after he was given EVERY OPPORTUNITY to win the position outright? He got the majority of the meaningful snaps in practice, and he was the starting QB in 11/12 regular season games. He had so many more advantages over CJB in 2014, but he tucked his tail and ran when CJB was named the starting QB after the HawkSlayer Bowl. Sounds like an entitled person to me.
Yes. Narcissistic. Didn't want to compete at Iowa. Wanted to be given the job at Iowa and Michigan. Hope he relearns this impediment in life lessons. Is he a frat brat?

Again, what I see is someone starting another Rudock thread and others posting with "why another JR thread?", "Why all the love for JR?", "Don't you recall 2014?" comments. I don't call that JR bashing.

Whether the anger was truly directed at Rudock or not, he still took a lot of heat for something he had no control over. And that wasn't going to improve if he won the job again this season.

As if no one has ever switched jobs.
You mean like Willies? How about Willies? The difference being the coaching staff at Iowa wanted Rudock but didn't want Willies. In other words, the transferring of Rudock hurt Iowa more than the transferring of Willies.

Also makes me believe the Iowa coaching staff is not so good accessing offensive talent

Kirk took his starting job away from him on a two deep with no competition. CJ and his family made Kirk make a choice, he chose CJ. Right choice but still pretty disrespectful to Jake. He had one year left and wanted to play.

Furthermore, had he stayed he would of had his supporters and there would of been drama. You think people wouldn't be calling for him to start since jnw considering CJs injury?

He did the right thing for him and us.

I've seen more than a few posts in this thread calling him a quitter. And those come up every single time there's a Rudock thread, even though his leaving ensured most fans would get exactly what they wanted, without the added distraction of a QB controversy.

Kid should never have been starting ahead of CJB ... ever
Kid quit on the Hawks

The only thing I was hoping for was Iowa pounding his *** in the B10 confc game

Beathard will play in the NFL ... Jake will be a fine part of the medical community
Yeah, if he doesn't get maimed first...'cause there are no other options...'cause Rudock quit.

I'm sorry, but I just can't agree with this. Are we to believe that Ferentz forced JR to leave but not Willies? There is a double standard in that position. And this is NOT a Derrick Willies comment, but a comparison to prove a point.

JR could have remained on the team but he chose not to. He is no longer a Hawkeye. How much better would you feel, this season, knowing that, had JR accepted his backup role and remained on the team, that we could avoid a 2009 situation if CJ goes down? No, I will not consider JR as still being a Hawk. His leaving could very well be the difference in competing for the B1G title, or even more.
I'd rather just take my chances with Wiegers

and Mysteron contributes what to this board?

******** - this is the 1st time I've posted and it is a question based on the interest in a Hawk who quit on KF and the rest of the team

2 folks I don't give a crap about - Rudock and Alford

If every incoming senior who has two years of starting experience quit after being beat out, we wouldn't lose many players at all.

I see. I hope we don't get any recruits that can start right away over any seniors or they should quit. If we did, I would hope the senior that got beat out wouldn't quit so we could have some quality depth. I'm not saying he's a bad guy, but he quit on the team after he got beat out! Pretty simple. HE QUIT... are you denying that! He wasn't asked to leave and he wasn't forced out.

I like Jake, and I root for him when I watch Michigan play. I wish he would have stayed to give us a quality backup in case CJ didn't play as well as expected or got injured (imagine that). Now, we don't have that luxury because HE QUIT! Hopefully Wiegers is that quality backup if we need him, because our other one QUIT.

How so?? Being 2nd string is only an injury away from playing. He would probably be playing now because of CJs injury. But he quit on his team and teamates. I want nothing more than to play Michigan in the championship game because we know exactly how he turtles up under pressure. We would shut down their run game and force him to beat us..LOL

We want the BIG championship and we're gonna win it as a Team. They can throw out all those great backs and great QB's and great defensive players throughout the country and in this conference but there's gonna be one Team that's gonna play solely as a Team. No man is more important than the Team. No coach is more important than the Team. The Team The Team The Team. Bo Schembechler Find it kind of ironic. Obviously Jake is not a team player.

All this talk about Jake being able to play for an injured CJ had he not quit sure makes me glad that he quit.

He quit. Simple as that.

So are you saying Russell Wilson was a quitter at NC State? REally? Wilson going to wisky was a great move for him. not comparing rudock to wilson skill and athletically but jake had the opportunity.

Personally, I dont think Jake has much NFL hopes unless he really showed improvement last year with his arm strength and ball speed. So I really expected him to suck it up and finish as a hawk, and we could maybe use him now.
