Why is McNutt only a 4th round projection?

Duffman- this is what you posted on the first page of this thread...

There aren't 100 other guys who can do what he does. He was one of the top 2-3 receivers in the college game last year, in a passing game that isn't really known for showcasing the position

I appreciate you sticking up for the Hawks but he was not even close to being that. He was a starter on a middle of the pack Big 10 team with an average offense. There are some really good WRs in the ACC SEC Big 12 Big 10 Pac 12 and Big East. And there are also smaller 1-A conferences and all of the 1-AA schools.

And I know it is FBS FCS but I am an old guy and I still call it 1-A and 1-AA. Us old guys do not like change.

Your response is great.....every team has wrs.

and I clarified I was speaking about him being a top 2-3 guy in his draft class in regards to production.

So, can any of the scouts tell me why you take a guy that is shorter, slower, and less productive? What in Sam Hell is going on here?

I have no clue why Marv hasn’t gotten drafted but it happens and doesn’t really mean all that much either way…he’ll have legitimate shot to make a team and if u rmebr correctly Dane Sazenbacher didn’t even get drafted last year and looked pretty solid for the Bears.

Now a couple of the things said are just plain off…………a 4.54 is at the worst an average speed for an NFL wide receiver and is more than respectable. It’s actually quite good. People seem to have a huge misconception of what is or isn’t a good speed for the NFL…the list of stud WR’s who ran less than 4.54 at the combine is a couple miles long. It would be way easier to ferret out the ones who ran way faster.

Also, although I agree he got shut down a tick at times this year, during the season our fans suggested that was the coaches fault….curious what they think now?!?!

Finanlly there are several other stud WR's out there who haven't been snagged.

There has to be something that we don't know about. Looking at the 10 or so WR's drafted before him I can't come up with any reason that they would have been selected first.

He's........... too................ slow..............according.............. to...............a........... stop........................... watch..............................so were a ................................. few.................. who came .....................before him.................

Only........... time.............. will................tell....................

My ......... bet............. he will.............. have a.......................10 year .................NFL career................................. and even make................... a Super Bowl................or a Pro Bowl.....................

I should have clarified, what kind of production would he have needed to have for you to have considered that production "elite".

First off, I don't agree with this notion that because people product in the 90th percentile they are elite. Stats don't ever make you elite. What makes a player truly elite is that they are one of the few that historically dominate their position.

You're confounding what truly elite play is with very good play. I don't blame you too much though because frankly the term is the most overused cliche in analyzing CFB talent.

Being elite isn't just about putting up nice numbers. Kellen Moore says "hi".
