Why Iowa lost the game

The travesty of it all is that KF thought that Iowa could do what they've done in the previous 10 games offensively and I guess do it better against Wisconsin. :) KF and GD look like fools today for that strategy especially with what was on the line. Andersen said after the game that Wisconsin was fortunate Iowa didn't get the ball back because he had no idea how they would be able to stop it.

That was a complete joke of a first half..

Exactly well put, the first half offense hurt the hawks chances. the Iowa defense gave up 24 points not counting forcing a fg after the first fumble, against a a tough running attactk.

I cant understand how GD and KF and all offensive coaches were not ready for wisky to pack the box, and how they didnt have the offense ready to check into simple audibles and hand signals for quick slants and quick play action go pattern long bombs. Throw them baby as Al Davis used to say.

With the game on the line, the D choked on a big fat one. Twice.

The D failed when it mattered. Ergo the D smells like goat.

You should be banned for making these disgusting, insensitive, inaccurate, personal attacks on the kids who play defense for Iowa. Your posts are nothing but garbage about 3/4 of the time; but, you keep trolling to get attention. You are, indeed, the perfect example of the anonymous, cowardly internet self proclaimed hero. Mean spirited people like you poison this message board...criticism is one thing, but you should be absolutely ashamed of yourself for this, and several other posts you have vomited onto this board. Go away and don't come back until you grow up.

The defense did NOT do their job. Gave up too many 3rd and long, and twice failed to stop Wisconsin on third down their last drive.

A good defense doesn't give up 200 yards to a running back (plus 65 receiving yards)....I don't care who it is. A good defense also doesn't let a QB run 45 yards untouched for a TD.

The overall stats might look good, but the FACT is, the defense gave up too many big plays, too many third and long, and failed at the most crucial point in the game. If you call that "doing their job", then you don't know squat about football...or else you think doing ok "most" of the time is sufficient.

They held Wisconsin to their 2nd lowest point total this year.

And yet they couldn't stop them on third down. That was the difference in the game. Wisky was behind on down and distance on two critical third downs. One was 3rd and 11 and the safety got caught being too aggressive and the ball was flipped to Gordon. The second one was when Alston had no field recognition and continued to chase Gordon as Stave ran behind him.

Defense played awesome except on 3rd down in the second half.

We knew going into the game that the OFFENSE needed to step it up and the fact that they laid n egg for 3/4th of the game was the problem and during that time the Defense was doing what it's suppose to be doing keeping Iowa in it... I understand completely the stops that didn't happen by the Defense. However anyone passing blame on a Defense that held a team to 14 points under there scoring average, needs to get a grip..
Stop making so much sense. It's not allowed.

And yet they couldn't stop them on third down. That was the difference in the game.

Probably not. The difference in the game was the 3 that was conceded when the offense turned the ball over deep in our own territory on the third play of the game. Or the offense's failure to convert the game tying 2 point conversion. There is no guarantee that if the D makes a stop, the offense does anything. And if the O gets into FG range, we have a pretty bad kicking game.
