why I am not worried about 1st year starters

HawkeyeMHA, this is entirely possible re: Sokol and Beathard. But, then, why not give Rudock game reps to help him try and improve in GD's system? Honestly; it makes no sense whichever way you slice. Unless, again, if Rudock is leaving. I am NOT saying he is; but that would have been the only legit reason. Okay, I've beaten the dead horse long enough.

Please be kind to animals.

Tate threw the ball just 11 time what can you learn from that?
Stanzi never took a snap before getting his 1st playing time as a RSSO
so why all the panic, and Chandler was a JUCO and from what I can find he never took a snap until he took over as a SR, and I am not into that crap well he had this or he had that,, the fact is he was still starting with no other than JUCO ball, and Sokol is is the same position, the best thing is he has a chance to play 2 years.
I am looking forward to this spring to see what goes on

You won't find a soul on earth more optomistic than ole Herbs

Not that it really changes anything, but Stanzi did have some very forgettable playing time in 2007 as a RSFR...0/4 with a pick (against Syracuse, I think).

JC was the #2 DT QB out of HS, something so many claim Iowa needs to win
Indeed...and every time I see this I'm shocked by it. How many times in 2007 did it seem like JC had room to run, but instead gunned/airmailed a 10 yard fastball to a WR on the sideline? Something I'll never understand, I'd bet...

If we suck hard this next year will you change your apologetic stance? Serious question Herb

Redhawk55; I am not trying to call anyone out and you are simply the most vocal with an opposite view than mine. So, take this reply in that vain.

I simply disagree with your premise that it is not important to get your backup QB any game experience during the current season. Particularly when that backup has zero D1 game experience coming into the season and the result is that you go into next season with no QB's with ANY D1 game experience. This should have been a priority "game planned into the season" and carried out.

I cannot believe that the most important position on the field (QB) is also the position where it matters the least that backups receive D1 game reps; securing their initial D1 experience, when there were many chances throughout the season to do so without risking a victory.

I am hearing a lot that Beathard may be the guy going into spring practice. If that is the case i can understand by Ferentz didn't burn his redshirt. But it would have been nice to see Rudock in a couple of those games that were beyond reach on the scoreboard.
