Why does CJ get a pass with everyone?

I think he played his heart out and as best as he could. Limited mobility.

It was interesting in the bowl game Monday when he got chased and pushed out of bounds to the ground in the Iowa bench area and none of the reserves on the sideline helped him up, did he lose some of his teammates??

It would be too bad if this was the case. I didn't see other evidence of teammates giving up on him. It was more likely them just giving up on the game and season.

Because of Davis, no WRs, and bad pass blocking. Look at what happened to Vandenberg under Davis. Look how Rudock performed in a different offense. Not to hard to figure out it wasn't Beathards fault.

Because everyone here spent all of 2014 claiming CJB was a bazillion times better than Rudock and Kirk was the only buffoon on the planet who thought otherwise.

Now, Rudock is on an NFL active roster while CJB is 80th nationally in passer rating.

I don't follow the NFL, so I didn't even know this. Wow.

Is Rudock the only QB ever to start for two Big 10 teams in consecutive seasons? Has any player ever done this?
Good question. I see CJ going to the Packers.. Southern boy can learn from Rogers... Some used to compare CJ to Farve the way he seemed to play like a gun slinger at first... Till Davis got completely ahold of him as a starter... 5-6 years from now JR and CJ fighting for the NFC North book it....(I'm kidding)

Like everyone else I was pumped to see where CJ could take the team this year. Yes, we were weak at receiver when Vande went down but Smith had a lot of potential as well as some of the younger guys. Plus we had a more than adequate OL and very strong running backs.

So why the horrible offensive production? You can blame the coaches but they've been here the last 5 years. There's got to be more to it! To me, CJ looked as bad in the latter part of this year as any QB I've seen at Iowa (and I've been watching since the 60's). Did he lose the team? Does that explain the poor pass protection, i.e. lack of effort by the OL? He really looked lost out there and had zero ability to avoid a rush. He was even missing screens and swing passes. Maybe next year we'll find out what the problem really was?

His pass protection was worse than horrible and our wide receivers could not get separation if they were being covered by cheerleaders. Watch some film. Florida had 11 guys within 6 yards of the line of scrimmage as did most other teams. Opposing teams gave our wide outs absolutely no respect and deservedly so. Even in the ISU game, Vanderberg was covered like a blanket when he made the great catches.

I still think CJ sucked this year and regressed, even considering the receiver issues, etc. The CJ that played last year, and the one that played a couple games the year before would have fared better imo. Skinnier, faster, less risk averse CJ, hippie, that guy.
