Why do our coordinators never get head coaching consideration?

Confused by this. Why hasn't any of our coaching staff gotten serious look for head coaching vacancies?

This season Ken O'Keefe's offense produced a 1300 yard rusher, a 1200 yard receiver and a 2500 yard passer. That's impressive!

You HAVE seen our play calling choices, right? Too many epic fail moments to be trusted with an entire team

Don't they have to put their name out there first? If they're not interested, then they're not going to get a "serious look". I've never heard of them actively seeking a head coaching position. Maybe they just like coaching with Ferentz, and don't want to give up the bird in the hand. Everything I've read supports this supposition. I don't see it as confusing, unless you're simply agitating with this post.

how do you know that they aren't, or for that matter any of our coaches are not?

I really do believe that Norm is going to retire and have an honorary position within the Athletic Department. The guy will be a great fundraiser, Iowa City I Club type guy, and a great guy to have around campus.

This is going to have all kinds of implications.

Whomever gets it, whether inside or outside the program is going to cause someone to see that the one job they thought was theirs at Iowa won't be. Say Phil Parker gets it, does Darrel Wilson stay? Vice Versa? What if he goes outside, do they both leave?

As for KOK - I think we have seen enough to see that Barta has to have the nudge conversation with Kirk. This guy is completely incapable to be a Div 1 coordinator.

I realize that this is a buddy of Kirk, but is he willing to get canned over it?

Don't kid yourself - KF gets two more years of 7 wins or less before he gets fired. If he cans KOK - he might buy himself an extra year.

We need new blood, and a new philosophy - not necessarily new schemes but new philosophy.
