Why can't we get a PG?

Go right ahead if you want to do that, I satisfied my own curiosity by looking these stats up.

It is crazy how desprately 56 wants to paint Jordan as a failure.

Lol I suck so bad at finding stats. I was looking for that offensive efficiency stat Bryce was talking about and couldn't find it.

I am confused as JBo a true frosh hit 6 more triples and scored 20 pts and dished out 6 assists. Hollins there PG got 12 pts & 11 assists.
Bohannon didn't grade out too bad against a PG from a non P5 conference. He basically accounted for 2 additional pts vs Hollins but needed 14 extra shot attempts to get those 2 extra points. And he was -1 on the extra possessions vs Hollins +6.

I'll say this about Bohannon, he's got more potential to be an adequate BIG PG than I thought before the season started. He's graded out better the past 2 games than I expected him to but he's only started a couple of games. So, he's going to have to make some adjustments by BIG play. BIG coaches will begin scouting and putting it into their game plan, to stop him or make things difficult for him. What I would expect to see is that defenders will start guarding him further out and being physical with him off the ball. That's going to cause 1 of the 2 reactions from Bohannon.
1. He'll start forcing shots and passes because he wants to effect the game. This is my expectation because he's a FR.
2. He'll make adjustments and figure out how to effect the game by taking fewer shots, by driving the ball for his scores or driving and dishing out assists. If he did #2 as a true FR, I would be very impressed and say the future looked pretty good with the PG spot in his hands. That would be a huge sign of maturity and BB IQ, IMO.
He's not athletic enough to be a good on ball defender at the high D-1 level but he can overcome some of that with smarts and hustle.

More film and tougher opponents might make it harder of him to get his deep 3s off. But I don't see how film will teach opponents how to force him to make stupid unforced turnovers.
It's a natural reaction, really. Especially for a true FR. All players want to feel like they are having a positive effect on the game. It's the nature of a competitor. When they can't get shots off or aren't making shots because they are heavily contested, it's a natural reaction to want to effect the game in other ways. If your defender is guarding you closer, you can get caught forcing bad passes trying to manufacture offense. I'd be surprised if it didn't go this route and wouldn't be at all upset about it unless it was a recurring theme for multiple games in a row.

Well put. It is actually very fair and I agree with all of it. He has a long was to go, and he is going to struggle many more times yet this year, yet he has a lot to work with and should grow thoughtout the year.

All Steph Curry did was hear he was not this and not that and all he did is continue to make shots at every level. Not saying JBo is Steph Curry but the fact that the B1G is now going to have to game plan for him says something right there. All the better for other guys including Jok.

Fair assessment. I still think you are stuck in this idea of needing a prototype, a quintessential pass first, shoot second point guard. There are other ways to create ball movement besides dribble drive.

It's an ageless concept that transcends changes in the game. You want your best ball handler/ passer to set up the other 4 players in the offense. Its not ever going to change. If that guy also happens to shoot 40% from 3pt range, more power to him. But those are hard to come by and I can be realistic about that. If I am forced to choose between the 2, I want the pass first PG. He'll get you more wins.
