Who's the starting QB?

People who know far more about quarterbacks than I do, say Beathard has a number of bad habits. He doesn't go through his progressions well. He tends to zone in on the middle third of the field and goes for too many low percentage throws. They have to get after him to get him to check down. Rudock sees the field better than Beathard.

And yes, Beathard has a better arm than Rudock.

It's not surprising both were a little off at the start with a large number of receivers held out.

What does that mean? By all accounts, nothing Beathard did yesterday would give anyone the impression that he's done anything but solidify his status as QB2.
Check out the passing yardage between QBs (not to mention possible rushing yardage). Then check out the turnovers between QBs.

I doubt KF would allow 39 passing attempts in any Iowa game, however.
KF certainly doesn't like the turnover.

Beathard will come in as the situation warrants.
If Iowa's running game Is grinding on all cylinders, it's Rudock.
If Iowa gets behind by a few, it's Beathard.
If a heavy wind is against Iowa's offense, it's Beathard (if the running game isn't grinding and Iowa is behind by a few).

If they can put some distance between themselves and the other teams early in the OOC schedule we will see plenty of Bethard. And they are looking at some different packages for him when he is in the game. As ferentz said, they'll be doing this to make it easier to win and harder for opponents to prepare.

So we have an apple and an orange. The Apple will play before the Orange but we'll see both...This may resemble 2001 but for different reasons.

That seems to match what I saw when he played last year. I wonder how a guy that bad ended up beating out Sokol for 2nd string. Was Sokol also that bad or is CJB's potential so high?
