Dude it's my story, the kids were 3rd graders in an instructional league in which she brought her kid and all her teammates to and instead of letting the coaches pick the teams (like they were instructed to) she said they had to play together because they all car pooled from Cascade together. She coached them and they picked up two local kids one of which was mine. They won the first game by about 40 to 50 points and didn't play my kid or the other one, the team they played couldn't get the ball past half court. Kids were freaking crying and parents we're pissed. She then was ordered by the Y staff to sub players and no pressing after 20 pt lead. This is an absolutely true story. So excuse me when I see this woman I don't see a winner, I see a horrible person. But hey, horrible people succeed in life don't they. You know what they say... It's not the other teams jobs to quit scoring its your job to stop them. I don't necessarily agree with it, but its what it is. You can be creative with a lead and put rules in place like so many passes before a shot or having or playing shell defense with little pressure on the ball handler, but at some point its unfair to tell them not to play hard.
On one hand I'm against running the score up, but on the other hand if little Timmy's average 2 ppg and getting very few minutes a game I see no reason holding him back when he finally gets a chance to play a decent amount of minutes simply because the other team can't stop him. Keeping starters in on the other hand and pressing is a bit much though IMO.
