Who's blowing kisses now Niang?

Kids do stupid things.....especially in the heat of the moment. Fred will handle BDJ if it needs handled. The 3rd chances Fred has given to some of these kids has worked out for the most part. Knock on wood, but both programs have been relatively scandal free during the tenure of the current coaching staffs.

And trust me......tweeter needs to quit sniffing glue.

Lol he's not a kid anymore. He's a senior who has transferred between 3 different schools for various reasons. He's had a number of incidents and this particular time he wad multiple warnings and still didn't get the hint. The attitude you have is exactly what allows a young MAN like him to not grow up. "Kids do stupid things". Ya well they don't learn their lesson when they never pay for their mistakes. By this point in his life BDJ should be a man and he still acts like a kid. Hoiberg was in a position to teach him a lesson. There's only so much he can do, but going out of his way to make sure he didn't get into further trouble when it was clear he was asking for it wasn't helping the situation. He just needed to say it's time for you to grow up or you can get out of here.

You need to quit sniffing Fred's Icy Hot.

A coach who allows his players to act like thugs and punks on and off the floor, never grabbing them by the arm and telling them this is not the way we do things, you can sit the rest of the game, doesn't deserve my respect, yours or anyone else's.

As far as BDJ, would not be surprised to learn there's a bigger story behind the scenes not yet reported. Considering the coach and the program, it likely won't be.

Tweeter, quit sniffing glue. Fred has a system that has worked for him. We'd be lucky to have him at Iowa.

Yes, he has a system that works for him. No, we would NOT be lucky to have him... at least not without significant changes. BDJ would not have seen the court at Iowa. After the second time the police were called to his apartment, he would have been disciplined by the administration. Fred could not have stepped in and worked with the police to create a "system" so that when the police get called in A DOZEN times that nothing happens. Who knows how many more under-the-radar incidents there have been? And how does BDJ's alleged roommate (Nader) get away from scrutiny as well?

I want to agree with you on Hoiberg. I really do. Because in public he does come across with an air of class.

But for a coach to allow his players to be such arrogant jerks on and off the court with no apparent discipline, for a coach to (apparently) develop a secret arrangement with the Ames police department to turn players with legal troubles over to coaches instead of processing them in the criminal justice system, strikes me as the opposite of class.

He's an operator, a manipulator. He brings in players who have left or been kicked off other teams, gets them to play well, win a lot of games. Hey, that looks really great for him and for the university.

But I really suspect there's a dark side to his program and to his ethics, frankly. Just my opinion. Sooner or later it will be exposed.

I totally agree, but Hoiberg made it clear he was interested in winning games no matter what it took if he got the job. Iowa State agreed to it, so thats what you have in Ames.

For Fred to have actually benched BDJ I would assume there was something that happened behind the scenes. At the very least a negative attitude (which is basically what the majority of his transgressions have resulted from). Someone on CyFan yesterday said they heard he got into a shouting match with Coach Mann the night before the game. No idea how credible that is though.

Regarding the police deal... BDJ wouldn't have been given multiple breaks by the ICPD. It's pretty well known they will crack down a high profile athlete if or when they have the chance. I was pretty amazed to hear the Ames PD had been to his apartment multiple times and left with just warnings. I guess it's not that surprising when you consider the fact this is the same fan base who as of a couple days ago was trying to get a petition started to change the town name from Ames to Hoiberg, IA.
