who would you take at RB?

"you want Robinson. He appears to have better vision and better ability to shed tacklers"

Bingo... I just remember BW not quite there in those situations... and a few more runs for loss than ARob had... BW seemd to go down easier and yes he had more TDs but he was the goal line back more often than not. Love me a Wegher Bomb!

Robinson was a 2nd year back, while Wegher was a true frosh. I'll wait to pick until I see 1. How Jewell responds to his injury.
2. how much has BW improved from year 1 to year 2.

To me A-Rob was a little more consistent last year but BW has a much higher ceiling. That is ofcourse unless i am completely wrong about everything i just said.

Even though it is the 4th quarter against Indiania, the last two minutes are a nice reminder of what to expect from a healthy Hampton. As has been said before, all three are outstanding backs. But with the combination of low center of gravity, power, quickness and sufficient speed, a healthy Hampton I think is ahead of the others based on their performances last year.

jewel just has a burst hitting the hole or going to the edge that an iowa back hasn't had in recent memory.

How do you know this?

Has anyone seen him run full speed in a contact situation since hurting his knee?

Not being a smart ***, serious question....it would be normal for him to lose a step or be a little gunshy. I hope not, but its possible

First off, I don't think you could go wrong with any of the three. I sure hope Jewell comes back strong.
I do think that both backs last year had ball security as their number 1 priority. Not that it shouldn't be, but because both were getting their first game action I think the coaching staff hammered into them that holding on to the football and getting minimal gain is better than trying to fight for the extra yards and lose it. I think BW really got more comfortable as the season wore on and you could see him attempting to make plays rather than play it safe. When that happened the offense was much more explosive. I do think that AR runs a little harder and is more effective when the holes aren't blown open. I think they compliment each other well. If I had to choose I'd have to go with BW.

I actually think in this day and age, recovering back to full speed from knee injuries has become the norm. Most of the Hawkeye athletes who have suffered knee injuries have returned to full speed after recovery. With that as a benchmark, odds are good that Hampton will as well.

I'm not sure Albert Young was the same after his knee injury. Much of the recovery is mental.

Watch the Orange Bowl. If the O-line can open holes then I think Wegher is the guy hands down. If the o-line struggles then ARob is better at breaking tackles and getting the tough yards.

Im going to hold out on what i think of Hampton until i see him run a little bit. The only tape we have on him is when he is running after SG broke the will of the opposing defense for 3+ quarters

This. I really like both backs. I was a bigger fan of Robinson last year because the guy is just so damn slippery. It's not that often that you see a guy at his size breaking a lot of tackles. But he was a veritable pinball out there.

Hampton's knee should be completely healed. It's all going to be about how he responds mentally. I know he looked very aggressive in the spring game, but it's different when you put the pads on and go for real, and you're not wearing the QB's practice jersey. So we will have to wait and see there.

Listen.......I think it is great that we have 4-5 guys deep that have skills......
Remember a few years back when Sam B our RB. I do.....
It is great that we have 3 guys getting hype and we have Rogers and Coker and let's not forget for Hitchens who I think may be the steal of the class last year. Rather than say who would we "take" let's think about how many B10 backs make it through the whole season in tact and wonder "when" will we take each of them. I like that question a lot more. I will take Hampton and A ROB working the defense and then hit them with Wegher late in the game to break to some big ones all season long.
