who would you take at RB?

Wegher really started to run harder late in the season. Look at the bowl game, it's a prime example.

I've always been surprised by both sides of the Robinson v. Wegher argument. I thought they performed pretty similarly throughout the year, which is why I think they continued to split carries the entire season (i.e., both performed well but neither consistently better than the other). Of course, each had their moments where I thought one or the other was better, but in the end, it seemed to even out. Looking at the stats, Robinson got a few more carries for a few more yards, a little bit better yds/carry but a few less rushing TDs than Wegher. The receiving stats were similar (Wegher with a few more catches for a few more yards with a little better yds/catch).

Hampton's stats are slightly better than Robinson's and Wegher's but Hampton was also the change of pace back for Shonn Greene. Granted, Hampton was not a mop up duty back, but Shonn did have a way of softening up the defense, in my opinion.

I don't think Iowa can go wrong with any three of the options. It will be interesting to see how each player develops from year 1 to year 2 and how Hampton has recovered from his injury.

Watch the Orange Bowl. If the O-line can open holes then I think Wegher is the guy hands down. If the o-line struggles then ARob is better at breaking tackles and getting the tough yards.

Im going to hold out on what i think of Hampton until i see him run a little bit. The only tape we have on him is when he is running after SG broke the will of the opposing defense for 3+ quarters

After watching the highlight videos, I'd say that it depends on the opponent.

If Iowa is able to dominate the line of scrimmage, you want Wegher in there because he'll hit the hole faster and has a better chance of breaking a big gain.

If the line of scrimmage is a draw or against Iowa, you want Robinson. He appears to have better vision and better ability to shed tacklers.

I didn't see many instances in his highlight video where Wegher actually broke a tackle, he just gained a few extra yards. Similarly, Robinson didn't seem to run away from people as easily as Wegher did.

They both seemed to do a great job of falling forward to get an extra yard or two.

Now, anyone have a Hampton highlight video?

A healthy Hampton is hands down the best...followed in my mind by Wegher then robinson and Rogers battle it out.

beat me to it :)

I'll take whichever one gives us the best chance of winning every Saturday. Now, if we're evaluating each RB by what we've seen so far from each one I'll go with Robinson. Wegher would be a very close second. And I only say that because he's a year younger. The difference between those two coming into this year will depend on whose grown the most over the last year, both physically and mentally. I don't see how anyone can pick Hampton based off of scrub minutes in games where the opponent was already worn down and the towel had been tossed. And not only that, he's coming of ACL surgery. I'd rather base an opinion off of a full season of grinding and battering which A-Rob and Wegher have done. One could almost say what Wegher did last year was twice as impressive considering he was only one year removed from playing with high-schooler's. But I'd also like to say that I very much hope Hampton is good enough to pass both of them. If he can do that, then you know he's the real deal.
