Who should Iowa hire?

As a side note- who do we want to see get the Nil money- Ladies, who have been in the last two championship games, or men, who haven’t sniffed a second weekend for a very long time.
For me personally women’s basketball doesn’t interest me at all. So my choice would be the men’s program. But ymmv.

Also before the inevitable flaming that’s about to happen towards me, let’s be honest. Almost all of us find men’s basketball much more entertaining than women’s as a whole (not just Iowa). I just admit my bias.

If we could we would’ve been. Iowa would need $4-5 million in additional money to be in the top half of the B1G. They ain’t getting that from our women’s program. They’re good, but the Clark era is doneski.

If there was enough money to make football and men’s basketball competitive they would’ve done it already. I’m fine with football talking all the cake until there’s revenue sharing. There’s a finite amount of collective money available and you sure as hell better funnel it to your biggest

I get it, ladies is an acquired taste, but it is still our best hope to see the black and gold in March Madness, and with a decent chance to advance. I will admit that seeing a final four run by the men might just make me say “Jan who?”

But knocking on age 70, i wonder if I will ever see it, and if it does happen, will I even know what I am seeing!

Meanwhile, the Wi and Mi btt championship may be worst BT championship gave I have ever watched

I don’t always agree with you but men’s basketball is a lot more important for me. I did like watching Clark play

Might be in the minority but I really like watching the Hawk Women

My daughter comes over and watches the games with me

She screams profanities at the zebras

Hawk Women's games, to me, are much more entertaining to watch

At this point in time anyway

I don't know who Iowa should hire as Men's Basketball Coach. I suspect that there are interested candidates that might surprise most of us. What can Iowa offer that is of non-monetary value to a coach? Easily the association with the Big Ten and the media exposure it generates is a big plus. There are probably 250 DI basketball programs that would like to have Iowa's poverty level NIL problem and the coach's salary problem. There just might be a Lute Olson out there willing to take the challenge to build a basketball program at Iowa.

Michigan has 11 transfers on its team and almost all are upper classmen. Wisconsin fans were ready to fire Gard and he brought in transfers to have a senior dominated starting squad. Iowa will have lots of slots open for playing time if all those leaving actually leave. If Iowa does have 1.5M in NIL then it might look pretty good that you could earn $200K and get to play.

Will Wade for the Hawks------- Bruce Pearl and Kelvin Samson also had blemishes but look now

or Chris Mack

Chris Mack, Charleston: Mack has yet to coach a game at Charleston, but he immediately became a high-major coaching candidate as soon as he returned to college basketball last spring. While his tenure at Louisville didn’t go as planned, Mack was dominant at Xavier as he took the Musketeers to to the Elite Eight in 2017. Xavier was also a one seed in the 2018 NCAA Tournament and a two seed in the 2016 NCAA Tournament under Mack’s watch. If Charleston wins 20 or more games this season, Mack could be in high demand. ( 24-9 @ Charleston)

Dix has entered Portal too. How soon before UI has open tryouts?

I’m just going to assume that he ends up at Creighton. His mid-range game is so good, that he will have a ton of options. Go get the bag, as the kids like to say.

Owen
Pryce
Harding
Dix

And everyone else on the roster, go ahead and do what is best for you…I’m not judging.

That is close to a starting five

I was disappointed that we didn't select Coach McDermott his last season at UNI

Instead of Anyone else

We would have had his son who was an All American and played in the pros
