Who said #7 Marvin McNutt Jr was "soft"??

I kind of wish the guy's helmet wasn't coming off so we could see the full face of the guy in the background.

speilman made a comment on a play that was ran away from him he didnt sell his route and that nfl scouts would see that and that would be a bad mark against him. dont remember him being called soft.

point is, one of them was cracking on Marvin over some imaginary bullsh!t.
who has worked harder, practiced harder, and played harder than #7??

i think they'll see his ability to catch the fade and forget one play that he took off. lots of WR slack and don't even try and block. McNutt does as good of a job at blocking as any WR we've had.

edit: i'm at post #1984. i've got this strange feeling i'm being watched...

Prole.

If its the play I'm thinking of jvb hustled the snap n Marvin wasn't even really aware it had been snapped until the ball was gone. Spielmen also was complain about prayer trying to get the crowd to cheer. Must have had a bad day cuz he was being a total doucher.

I was at the game and there was one play that mcnutt appeared to give less than his best effort. ran a step or two and stopped and began walking. I remember thinking to myself that he didn't do much to sell the defense on anything. maybe he was hurt ir just plain gassed but it was a poor effort. luv marvin and he will be great on sundays but I would have to agree with spielman that there was a play he "took off".

Marv is the man, if he wasnt going all out on a play he was gassed. He sees the game better than most anyone. I hope the coaches open things up with him and James a bit these next few weeks, they are an awesome combo and have as much chemistry as any QB/WR combo out there.

When was that said, during the Mich. game?

If anyone said that it was a dumb comment.

They didn't say soft, I sit corrected. They sad Marvin took a play off. He didn't, based on what I saw live and on replay.

maybe u were not able to see it on tv but there was one play he took off for some reason. it is something I have never seen from him before so i'm sure there was a good reason for it.....but it did happen.

so because a play not designed for #7 and going to the opposite side of the field, one play after he ran his azz off, he doesn't jump off the blocks, he gets called out by a former linebacker for "taking a play off"?
Sorry, I'm a HUGE Marvin McNutt fan and I will not accept this bogus criticism of him. The dude is the most legit WR we've had in probably 20 years. He's clutch and he gives 100% to the Hawkeyes.
F spielman.

u can rant all u want and I am as big of mcnutt fan as there is but whatever the reason one play for some reason he appeared to take off. if u want to rag on spielman for calling him out for it that's fine but don't say it didn't happen when I saw it with my own eyes.

I don't get why you're fighting with me? You say you're a McNutt fan, but you're just as guilty as spielman of judging him negatively based on one broken play which wasn't coming his way.

u r right....sometimes I get a bit blockheaded....maybe if I watch the replay tonight and hear spielman for myself it will make me feel like u. I certainly not trying to negati ely judge him..just saying I saw what he is referring to.

Chill out you guys...as I said in the Prater putting his hand to his ear thread, when McNutt did that it was the very next play after he had gotten taken down and appeared to get his leg twisted...he didn't want to come out and stop the momentum but I don't think he knew if he was ok or not, so he didn't sell the route...Spielman overreacted somewhat, but who cares...NFL teams don't give a rip what Spielman says when they have tons of film to check over.

Spielman said he took the play off, he was right. Not sure what the argument is supposed to be. Receivers take plays off...it happens.
