White "day to day" with shoulder stingers

Wanted to get a shot and return to play but Purdue doctors declined. Hopefully that's all it is -- story doesn't say whether there will be further examination to rule it out.

When I think of stinger, I think of an injury that is painful but not something that a guy is going to keep off the court medically.

So it seems wierd to me he wouldn't be allowed to return due to stingers.

Okay, I misread this the first time. To state it more explicitly, White wanted to get an injection to numb the stinger pain, but the Purdue doctors didn't want to risk further nerve damage and declined.

With the extent of the pain without the injection, White felt he couldn't play effectively.

Wow. What a shocker. The PURDUE doctors would not let him return. Isn't that a HUGE CONFLICT OF INTEREST? Is this really 'how it's done'? Does visiting team not bring any medical personnel at all. Tell you what, if I'm The 'Iowa doctor', I would NEVER allow/recommend an opposing player to return to action. Just sayin

The doctors didn't say he couldn't play, they just said they wouldn't give him an injection to numb the pain. I think I agree, given they probably couldn't do an MRI or as thorough a diagnosis as they would have liked. If I'm a physician and I wouldn't want to actively contribute to a situation that I feel could put a young man at risk for further, possibly permanent, injury.

White will be ready for the Saturday game, because he'll be getting first class treatment from trainers, medical staff, and therapists.

Wow, sounds like we got screwed by the Purdue doctors here. I'm sure if that was Hammonds they would have just stuck the needle in no questions asked.

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTT??
Some Purdue doctor decided that our Most Valuable Player
& leading scorer shouldn't play in this very close game?

??? WTF ?

Not sure if you're joking, or truly naïve. Conservative care at that moment, without more information on his injury, was the best practice for the long term health of Aaron.

Not really concerned with last Saturday as it's over and done with. I'm more concerned with this coming Saturday and whether AW will play. Or at all the rest of this season.

I'm really concerned that this is more serious than is being let on.

Hopefully he's back, and if so, he plays tentatively.....Wouldn't surprise me that Wisconsin attacks his right side if he goes hard to the rack......I'm thinking that it might be more that what's being let on....

Wow. All kinds of fail on this. Did you even read the Gazette article? The Purdue doctors said nothing about him returning to the game. They refused to give him a shot to numb the pain. And if I were a coach I'd refuse to allow a player to get a shot to numb pain. There's a reason for the pain - your body has damage that your nerves are telling you about. He could do irreparable harm to his shoulder/arm/neck if he gets a shot.

I will be shocked if his collar bone isn't broke.

Yup. No doctor, nor staying at Holiday Inn but repeated this several times immediately after seeing where he grabbed his shoulder and the intense pain he was in just sitting on the bench. That's prolly a hairline or buckle.

Either way ... "day to day" is b.s. sports trainer talk for, he's out for a while. He'll either try to go and be completely ineffective / tentative or he's out for 2-3.

Again, either way, doesn't matter, Hawks are gonna lose next 3. Hope to get AW back by Minny and reset course for a reasonable finish and get back on the bubble.
