Where's Jonathan Parker been?

I don't follow our team as closely as many other folks on here, but isn't he one of the fastest players on the team? I know they said he was transitioning to WR in the spring, but the last time he got the ball was a failed jet sweep attempt that went for a 12 yard loss in week 2 against ISU. Do you think they'll try to get him some reps anytime soon - perhaps something other than a jet sweep? It just seems wrong to keep him off the field.

have thought the same thing. the obvious reason is he has fallen down the depth chart. or, he is injured. interesting is that he has been kinda forgotten - surprised no one mentions this question on a call in show.

Pretty random time to see this thread. I just got done watching last year's Purdue game. (Trying to clean up my DVR.) Parker made a couple really big plays and it had me wondering where he's been. I hope we see him some this year.

Speaking of the Purdue game though. That was CJ's only start last year and the first half is what a lot of people here used to discredit how good he was because his stats were bad. At one point, the announcers said what his stats would have been up to that point of there was no drops. I paid attention after that because the half was almost over. With no drops he would have ended the half 16 for 21. It would have actually been 15 for 20 because his second to last throw was a dropped td. Had it been caught, his last throw would have never been thrown and dropped. Other than the pick 6 and a couple unnecessary sacks that he still takes, he was pretty darn good in that game.

We are 8-0. Who we have put in has worked. Can't get any better than 8-0 at this point.

Looks like jerminic smith has eaten his minutes, plus vandeberg has really been over achieving this year. He's buried in the depth chart.

I was wondering the same thing yesterday and was going to start this thread. I suspect he's still learning the WR position and blocking and is probably buried on the depth chart. I could see him transferring.

Parker has made more boneheaded mistakes than positive plays. I'm all for giving him some reps, but not while the outcome of a game is in doubt.

The only mistake I can think of is when he threw the ball out of bounds in a kickoff during the Hawkslayer bowl. He was a freshman and it was last year. Give the kid a break. How can he have made "boneheaded mistakes" if he hasn't been on the field to make said mistakes?

I do agree that I wouldn't put him in with the game on the line unless I was darn sure he could properly execute the play.

I agree. Nothing else sticks out to me.

He fumbled a jet sweep and caught a kickoff at the 3 and ran out of bounds. Big whoop. He also had at least 2 huge kick off returns last year, a long td jet sweep run, and a long reception and run where the announcers raved about how fast and athletic he looked. He is capable of really big plays and given the chance, he might very well wow us like Wadley is now.

Man, i dunno if i'd saddle him with that fumble other than for pure stats. His first snap at WR and they call a reverse pitch to him... that fumble should go on GD's stat sheet for calling that play. That said, he's gotta have time to learn the WR playbook. He'll get in there with a couple receivers graduating at the end of the season.

Becuz Ferrets don't play the best players to win the dang games!!! Stupid dum coach.

Not trying to be that guy, but I don't see how this is Davis' fault. Obviously it wasn't the first time they'd ever ran the play. He must have had some success with it in practice. Staff called his number and regardless it ended up as a TO. Not saying it should bury him on the depth chart or cost him a scholarship, but I don't see pinning it all on Davis either.

We can agree to disagree here, but part of Davis's job is to know his personnel and their limitations and the game situation. A trick play to a converted RB's first snap in the shadow of your own goalpost? Just not a great call IMO.

Completely agree. And guys like Gamefilm who've forgotten more football than I'll ever know also agreed at the time.

I see your point and wasn't trying to stand up for Davis. I just see it as it being a play they've probably done dozens of times in practice, that he'd obviously performed well enough in practice, to get the call on game day. I just don't think its fair to put the fumble on Davis vs. Parker. The call was questionable I agree, but also one of those "great calls" if its pulled off.

I should admit however that I'm slightly biased against Parker because for the life of me I can't get the forward pitch back in bounds on the kick return vs. Tennessee. It's one of those WTF moments you try to forget but can't get out of your head.
