Where Have the TE's Gone?

Typically we don't have a #3 reciever have as many receptions as KMM. I'm not worried about the TE spot. If the #3 WR is more effective, let's stick with it.
Herman started at the beginning of the season. The fact is, he is not a consistent performer. (penalties, dropped balls) Now, Iowa is giving more snaps to Derby and CJ in practice, so they will start seeing more time. I think you will see the TE play a bigger role, but there is only one football on the field at a time and there are three other really good receivers on the field.

In the ISU, Tin-Man hadn't yet really "emerged." Furthermore, their secondary is pretty good and Vandenberg was checking down more often in that game ... as a result, he was looking more at the TEs in that game (and the prior one). The problem is that our TEs also had a number of drops in that game too.

As we face more good secondaries and as the TEs improve their consistency ... we'll then see them get more involved in the passing game.

Well, I guess you and I will just agree to disagree, then. I think the cause of the lack of perceived production out of TE is caused more by McNutt, Davis, and the emergence of KMM's production as the 3rd WR and Vandy's willingness to check down to the RB more often than maybe we've seen others do than it has to do with the TEs sucking. Could some of that be due to lack of confidence in the TE? Sure.

I can't really add anything that has not already been stated. Derby/Herman have a number of drops some caused by big hits, others have been flat out drops.

Herman looks the part, the skill/talent is there for whatever reason he has not put it together. It is a little disappointing considering he is a senior and given the history of the position at Iowa you just assume the next guy in will step and play well.

Derby is coming on, CJ is still a work in progress, hopefully it will click for Herman at some point. I am not overly concerned.

CJ is clearly the most athletic of the TEs, if he could get better at blocking he would be the starter.
