Where do we finish this year?

if they wrestle like they did at the duals it will be 5th-6th at best but if they wrestle to their ability it will be top 3

I look at McDonough, Ramos, StJohn, and Evans, as our top scorers. Then Telford, Moore, and Ballweg. PennState has Taylor, Ruth, and Wright and counting bonus points from just these three they could possibly end up with 75 points. I think Minnesota is a better dual team than tournament team and, Oklahoma state has Oliver, Perry, Caldwell, and the Russian who could score alot of points plus Morrisson, Dierenger, and Chinouma. I think the seedings are going to be real important. "This is the most i've talked in a long time".

Penn St is the favorite on paper when you add #2 Megs (125), #4 Alton (157), and #7 Matt Brown (174) to the individuals you listed in your post. Good potential for significant bonus points for them again this year.

I think the Hawks could finish anywhere from #2 - #6. Their placing will most likely be dependent on how well many of them do in the consolation rounds. We should have a better feel for how they will do at Nationals once the Big Tourney is completed plus I don't think they can perform any worse then they did last weekend.

My smart donkey answer is they will finish in Des Moines. I predict they'll finish 2nd behind Carl's team.

This team has studs capable of making the finals: McD, Ramos, StJ, and Evans. This team has guys capable of being a mid to low AA: Ballweg(I think he's hit a wall, but will benefit from the peaking process), Moore, Burak(a bit of a stretch, but still capable), and Telford.

What this team is missing is that guy who throws caution to the wind, and makes a run. Well, GG/EL is the only one left who can do it, and EL just for whatever reason, doesn't give himself a chance. Give me GG, give me a route opposite of Ruth, and watch out.

after last weekend, it would be easy to say that we will do no better than 5th. I firmly believe that with mcd, ramos, dsj, and evans, we have a very solid base. Add in Moore, burak, telford, and even ballweg, we have the team to get it done. I feel that burak and moore are due to break out and what a time for it to happen, and i think they will. not saying they are going to stand on top of the podium, but they are going to make some noise. we have suffered with our own guys getting upset, and the ncaa's usually serve up several as well. When those upsets happen, the hawks are going to be ready to capitalize. If the ncaa's were anywhere else i don't know that i would feel this strong about my thoughts. The Brands boys will have these guys ready to go, and i would not be surprised if Mr. Gable paid a visit to the wrestling room before the big tourneys start to help motivate.

make no mistake, our Hawkeye Wrestlers will be ready and are going to show the wrestling world what "Iowa Style" means!

How many automatic qualifiers out of the Big 10 at 149 and 197?

Qualfiers will be announced tomorrow, Friday at the latest (PAC12 championships start this weekend).

However, based on the most recent RPI and Coaches poll, I'm guessing it's:

149 - 8 or 9
197 - 9
