I understand it's an element of the job and one of the components to pick on when things aren't going well. It's my 21st season covering Iowa football and I've been in this business more than 25 years.

People will continue the narrative that reporters are afraid to ask KF tough questions for fear of losing their credentials. If we would just ask the hard questions this would be a program more to their liking.

BTW, here's the call-in number for the KF show tonight 800-424-2957. He'll be on from 7-8 CT. Let's get in there and fire away. Get some answers, dammit!
OT, but is there any way I can listen in NW Iowa?

Dream on. Not only will KF steer the conversation away from certain topics but so will other media personalities on the show and other mediums.

And for those of you folks that live locally, all the better. Head on down to the new Carlos O'Kelly's. They take questions from the audience. And if you don't want to do that, KF is very approachable. He would answer your questions if you went up to him after the show.

Any one of these guys see KF in person the only question they will ask is if they can have an autograph.

------If someone doesn't want to answer a question it doesn't matter how it's asked. But, you probably already knew that. You seem to have this whole thing figured out.

Yes, I've had it figured out for years. Instead of "Coach, why did you blah, blah, blah,....it's coach, such and such was really giving you trouble today, can you tell be about blah, blah, blah, And then when he gives a horse shit "statement" and not an "answer" without saying anything, NOBODY presses him any further. Why? Because it was never really posed as a real question to begin with. Then everyone sits back and says "See, nobody can say we didn't ask him such and such".....NO, what you really did was make a statement, disguised as a question. The post game press in Iowa is a joke.

100% accurate ^^^

Did you tough guys call into the show last night? tk, you live locally, right? Did you go down to Carlos and give KF a piece of your mind? The media can't ask the tough questions. Hawkeye Nation needs you guys to step up.

I'm not going to drive 800 miles to Carlos or call into a coaches show that HEAVILY screens out unfavorable calls...I had Survivor to watch. Time much better spent.

The answer is never. They have tiny tiny little balls and do not want to have their credentials ripped from Fort Kinnick. Is it cowardly? Yes very much but we live in a time now which people can't handle the truth because it might hurt someone's feelings.

When did the expectations for this team change? 5-7 wins was always the range. There are ups and downs. 8-4 looks like the ceiling, 5-7 is the floor. THIS wasnt going to be "the year." Happy? No. Surprised. No. #thatsfootball lol

Almost everyone picked Iowa at 7-5 or 8-4 and now that we are somewhat on that track the sky is falling. If hooker tips the ball and Stanley and Smith don't fumble we would be 3-1 for sure and maybe 4-0. Insanity!

I don't think what the team was predicted at before the year is relevant. I hear Jon say what you just did in his podcasts all the time. How does predicting a team will suck before the year make it ok that they suck during the year? The problem is that they suck. It doesn't help the matter that you saw it coming in advance.

My post isn't about this team so much. I don't think they suck. I think they are average with a chance to become good. I'm just making a point that predictions before a season shouldn't let a team off the hook during the season.

What the Iowa media really should be calling out is the public entrance to the practice facility. The huge trophy case's glass was extremely dirty and a huge eye sore. Several of the trophies weren't centered, some very crooked. I suppose this isn't all their fault per se, but check out the paint job on the oranges. I think Kirk might want to hire an attention to detail QC guy.

Young team will make mistakes. This is a young team learning as they go and hanging in there. 2 freshman OTs playing last saturday. That generally will get your QB flattened a few times, especially when your QB is young also.

Their bravery is only maintained behind their keyboards. Too many just want to complain about everything. That just gets old. Especially when they know KF is not going anywhere. They should just take up golfing on Saturdays in the fall.
