When coaches go to the Final Four site

what do they do there? For Caff I understand it is an opportunity to look assistants.

What is it though actually for established coaches and programs -- is it just a 'networking oportunity' or a junket? Are there meetings? Who pays for it? What is accomplished by having all these basketball coaches convene at one site every year?

Anyone know?

The NABC holds its annual convention each spring in conjunction with the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championships. The NABC Convention serves as an opportunity for the basketball coaching community to address the issues surrounding the sport as well as share ideas to further enhance the game. During the Final Four weekend, the association sponsors several major events for college basketball coaches and fans alike. The NABC College All-Star Game traditionally tips off the weekend festivities which also include the NABC Expo and a number of coaching clinics. The Convention concludes with the Guardians of the Game College Basketball Awards Show.

It's one of the biggest job hunting weekends in the profession, mostly for assistants...and also, AD's are there...and a good time to establish or solidify relationships.

Thanks for the information. It does sound from the blurb from the NABC that it is more of a networking opportuntiy and junket than a 'working session' where there is substantiated results.

I still wonder who pays for it -- must be a perk for the athletic department.

Also I wonder if they do this for football, wrestling or women's field hockey?

Did anyone see Phil Haddy sitting in the press area between midcourt and the "left" bench? Just curious what he would be doing there.

Spring Break for Coaches. Final Fours are great fun- a celebration of life. I was at the Final Four in San Antonio in 1998. It was a blast!
